| Posted: | | | | The problem: When using the Studio-Editor the text-field is not (as many users seem to think) for searching the studio you want to edit, but directly edits the currently highlighted Studio (usually the first in the list). This behaviour seems to cause problems (Compare: Here ) I suggest the following changes: 1) Change text-field in main-window from "Edit" to "Search" 2) Add a new "Edit"-button that will then edit the highlighted studio | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | I whole-heartedly agree with this request. Messed up a couple of studios in my local database in my DVD Profiler infancy before I figured out what is going on. The behaviour of this control is quite ... different. |

| Posted: | | | | +1. The current behaviour is very un-windows-like. As for 1-2-3 , I'd like to add: 3) double clicking on an entry in the list invokes "Edit" too; if possible add a right-click "rename" or "edit" (same meaning) to right-clicking an entry in that list. | | | Eric

| Posted: | | | | I'd like to know the reason for the (currently) 2 "No"-votes.
Especially since the requested change would give consistency within the different editors (Cast and Crew editor behaves exactly like requested here for the studios). | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | The entry and edit of all fields in Edit Profile should be consistent.
Although today with so much information/misinformation on the internet you don't know who copied from whom.
I've come to the conclusion the only or closest to the truth is a mathematical proof. Quote: Although today with so much information/misinformation on the internet you don't know who copied from whom. However true that may be, this request isn't about the content of the studio/MC list... Quote: I've come to the conclusion the only or closest to the truth is a mathematical proof. And even some of those have sometimes been proven wrong. This requires understanding of mathematics on the academic level, and I am not sure this is a stated requirement for DVDprofiler use . Apart from that, "truth" is very much in the eye of the beholder. Lots of examples that would make this immediately a "political thread". On profiler's turf, IMdb's "truth" is not necessarily DVDprofiler's "truth", etc. etc., but again this is beyond the OP's change request. | | | Eric

| Posted: | | | | Totally agree with the request but would like to add a further change in functionality I'd like to see (and this not only applies to Studios but Cast/Crew editing too)...
Can we please be allowed to change one studio/cast/crew to the same as another already present so that it merges the two rather than disallows it. This would make it so much easier to correct multiple versions of the same studio to the agreed name when one or more is a simple mis-spelling (Freemantle Media (wrong) / Fremantle Media (correct) I'm looking at you...)
I accept it could also accidentally be used to overwrite 'good' data where a studio/person has a different name in different films' credits (or there really are 2 actors that need separating with different BYs) but, especially with cast/crew I would love to be able to 'merge' a name with a BY with one 'without' to be able to remove unnecessary BYs. | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

This is possible already for Studios. In the Studio-Editor click on the Studio you want to be merged, click "Replace", click on the Studio you want it to be merged to. Done Sadly this doesn't allow to control which profiles have been changed, you only get the total number of affected profiles. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! It marks those profiles as "edited", so if you sort your collection by "Last Edited" after you've done this, you'll be able to see all changed profiles at the top of your list. |
