| | Posted: | | | | I just purchased a BluRay DVD with a 14 digit UPC code instead of the usual 12. Does anyone know if DVD Profiler will handle these extra digits. I have entered the DVD into my system but Profiler was fighting it all the way, telling me that the code was incorrect and that I should check it. I tried to offer it up as a contribution to the online data base, but I don't think it went up because it asked me to check the UPC code. Anyhow, if anyone wants to follow up the code is 02454377230950, and I'd be happy to send a scan of the back cover to verify this. |

What I mean is: Every company/publisher (DVD, magazine, cd, etc.) gets assigned a prefix, or those first 6 digits, of the UPC. So all of Sony's DVD/Blu's will start with 043396-, Warner's will start with 883929-, etc.. Those last 2 digits in your example are the 2 above the last set of UPC bars and we don't enter those. We only enter the first 12 digits (13 if it's an EAN - for European localities). I did a quick Google search of 024543772309 and it looks like you have The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel Blu-Ray, correct? | | | My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT.
FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that.
