Just for a bit of fun, I thought it would be interesting to see what people's 'Best' stuff is so far this year.

So, the only criteria (I trust people to be honest) is that the items listed must be complete NEW to you during this year. A maximum of 2 entries in each category please.

BEST BOOKS
I've been on a bit of a Young Adult kick lately, so...

Department 19 by Will Hill (an excellent, and somewhat bloody, adventure story involving an attempt to resurrect Dracula and a covert secret department within the British government).

Invisible Fiends: Mr. Mumbles by Barry Hutchison (horror for kids. Fast paced and damned scary IMO. Great twists to the plot)

BEST CINEMA FILM
Unfortunately that's NONE for me as we can't afford the cost of a cinema visit.

BEST DVD/BD FILM
Disney's Tangled (a fabulous return to form and innocence. Good songs too!)
The Collector (scared the hell out of me)

BEST NEW TV SHOW
Both the shows weren't even on my radar until this year and both went straight into my Top 10 shows of all time:
Sanctuary
White Collar

Never even heard of White Collar. It's about hijinks in a laundromat I presume.

Best New Tv Show: Game of Thrones, which is actually the best show i ever saw on TV, it is like LOTR for adults.

I forgot...

Best CD
Wonderland - Original Broadway Cast. (I'm a long-time Frank Wildhorn fan so this was eagerly anticipated; and while not as good as his others it's still excellent).

Karate Kid 2010 Soundtrack (I stubbornly resisted seeing this movie until a couple of weeks ago; and then wondered why I'd waited so long. Instantly got the soundtrack and think it's one of James Horner's best).

BEST BOOKS
Don't read

BEST CINEMA FILM
Haven't been to the cinema in a decade.

BEST DVD/BD FILM
Jjejjehan romaenseu
Sunjeong manhwa

BEST NEW TV SHOW
Kanon
Starship Operators

Watching anime again after a ~3 year pause. Really enjoying it.

BEST CD
Rurutia "Seirios"
Rurutia "Opus"

Started buying Rurutias albums this year, so far have got 4 of them. Best albums i've bought in years... if ever. Definitely my favorite artist ATM.

Quoting Pantheon:

BEST NEW TV SHOW
Sanctuary

I thought the first few episodes were kinda bad. I couldn't really pinpoint it why. I gave it extra chance because of Amanda Tapping Retrospectively thinking, i think it was the actors inexperience with excessive use of green screen. Really enjoying it now though.

Best Book: Ask me after my holiday when I'll actually get down to reading a few... or maybe I'll say the Cisco ICND1 book that miraculously helped me to pass my exam and get the CCENT qualification

Best Cinema film: Not been to the cinema this year

Best BD/DVD Film: According to my Watched list and scores that will be either The Usual Suspects (which I've finally got around to seeing... and amazingly I avoided the spoiler for all these years) or Kick A$$ which is a huge amount of fun!

Best New Series: Spartacus: Blood & Sand - Rome with the 300 style, blood and graphics combined with a great twisting plot... and lots of sex (and finally released in the UK)
It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong
