Production Notes / Bios Feature: To Tick or Not to Tick, That is the Question |

| Posted: | | | | A lot of DVDs come with a leaflet or booklet in them, which often give some background information about the film in question. How should these be recorded?
The Rules say:
Production Notes/Bios Textual Notes about the Film Production Cast, Crew and/or Character Biographies/Filmographies
My original thought was that they were, at best, an Other Feature. But on reflection nowhere in the Rules does it seem to say the Production Notes / Bios Feature information has to be taken from the disc itself and you can’t get much more “textual” than the written word on paper.
I think I'm guilty of contributing using more than one of the options I've suggested for basically the same type of thing for different DVDs and having these accepted, so maybe it confuses others too?
I couldn't find any specific reference to this issue anywhere so thought I'd ask what other people think.
Ta.

Also, I include in my Profiler database VHS tapes, audio DVDs, audio books (digital, cassette and CD), video games (digital, DVD and CD) and 'enhanced' CDs with video tracks on them, as well as films and TV I've bought digitally. So I'm an anarchist, deal with it. Just be thankful I don't include most of my records and CDs etc in it too; don't think I haven't been tempted... |

| Posted: | | | | The heading of that rule reads: "Disc Features". I voted for Other Feature because something 'other' can be anything. | | | Cor | | | Last edited: by Corne |

| Posted: | | | | If anything, it belongs in "Other Features". Whether I'd personally put in there depends on whether there's any interesting information in there. If it's just a single leaflet with, for instance, nothing but a list of chapter stops, then I wouldn't bother mentioning it. If it's a booklet with actual background information in it, yeah, then I'd put it on the "Other Features" field. That difference has come up several times before, by the way, like here. |

| Posted: | | | | Ah, I hadn't noticed the "Disc Features" heading, as I normally use a printed out copy of the Rules and that bit is right at the bottom of the previous page. Who designed these Rules anyway? Didn't they check anything before publishing them? We don't all use Letter sized paper you know. So US-centric. It's a disgrace, no wonder society is falling apart at the seams. It's that sort of can't be bothered attitude that's causing the horrible flooding everywhere. No wonder there’s so much violence in schools these days. It’s the same reason why people are in denial over Climate Change. No wonder West Ham are bottom of the Premier League. Why can’t someone here sort that out? Hordes of hoddies hanging out on street corners, bread over a £1 a loaf in my local corner shop and non anamorphic DVDs wasting the space on my TV screen that I slaved for years and years to save up enough money to buy. No wonder the Soviet Union broke up. Bring back hanging, flogging's too for them. National Service; if they spent a few years in the army it might teach them a bit of discipline and then the Rules might fit on the page properly. Am I the only one left who’s got any sense of proportion anymore? | | | Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it? Guttermouth "Lemon Water". | Posted: | | | | At least we had the good grace and dignity not to sack our manager today, after the BBC has basically done so over the weekend. I guess no one else wanted the job... (Sorry, that probably makes no sense to anyone who doesn't follow the English Premier League and has very little to do with the original point of this thread either.) | | | Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it? | Posted: | | | | I remember the days where a booklet with production notes was the standard, and not considered a "bonus feature." |
