| Posted: | | | | What do you do when you have a DVD with the same UPC as another movie already in the database? I'm trying to add Mad Men season one and two (Swedish edition). The UPCs for these two titles are 7350019701751 and 7350019701768. These two UPCs are in the database as Nynne and Uppgörelsen. I've done a title search in the database but Mad Men season one and two Swedish edition aren't in the database as far as I know. |

According to Discshop they are: 7350019708002 for season 1. 7350019709405 for season 2.
Although it wouldn't be the first time if Noble Entertainment screwed up. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | I got the EANs from the back cover of the DVD. I know Discshop has the two EANs listed above but I think the once I bought at CDon.com are new releases since the covers aren't the same either as on Discshop. | | | Last edited: by Poppe |

| Posted: | | | | What's the language on the cover? Sometimes CDON sells Norwegian and other Scandinavian DVDs. In that case you can add them under another locality, if they don't already exist. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | It's Swedish. And it is still an EAN/UPC that already exist (as a completely different DVD) in the database... |

| Posted: | | | | Every locality is unique which means that you can add the same EAN under multiple localities. But this would only work if say the covers were in English and the overview in multiple languages like some other Nordic releases. But in this case, if it's in Swedish only, I guess we're stuck with the old releases already in the database. All changes to reflect the new releases would have to be local only and can't be submitted to the online db at this point.
Since this is a relatively common problem, I hope at some point that we will have a way of submitting more than one version of each EAN. It can't be that difficult to have the option to choose between several releases if more than one profile is a match. It's already done between localities. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | The answer is to submit by disc-ID
AIUI the EAN/Locality combo is used as the Primary Key in the database so would require a significant rewite of the fundamental data to change. | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

| Posted: | | | | What disc ID? It's a tv series on multiple discs and for those we use the disc IDs to add child profiles.
And I see it more as an expansion to the current system. Instead of EAN + locality you would have EAN + locality + version identifier. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 | | | Last edited: by Nexus the Sixth |
