I have lost my library of over 800 movies & now I am re entering all them again. I do the back up says it is complete then if I go to the word doc on my computer it isn't formated correctly. Also I have 176 owned movies in there & went to download those & lost like 50 that I just entered?

The backup that DVD Profiler makes is not in Word format, and can only be read by DVD Profiler. So trying to read it as a word doc is pointless.

The backup creates a *.dbp file, and this (as Staid S Barr said) can only be read by the profiler.
This file can be used for restore.

You could export your collection to an *xml file. This could be read by other programmes (but I suppose not MS Word).

you have your online collection as Private so i can't check it but if you kept that up to date you should be able to recover your 800-odd collection from there.

In reading your post and the word .doc .. I wanted to share something That I have been working on now for well over two months..( three years all together) .
My entire collection of Home videos shot on Beta and VHS from 1981 to 2003 ( 8 mm camcorder) .. The entire collection (40 plus video tapes ) each running from 2 to 4 hours apiece - I had sitting in a giant cardboard box , in the garage. Still protected from heat and dust I felt extremely guilty that I was letting my family down from the great memories we all had growing up together and raising our kids thru birth/ birthday parties/ learning to ride that bike etc etc .. and not enjoying them in later years.. was disappointing .. becasue who uses VHS machines these days??
So I had the entire collection categorized from its 'measly'  front video label and transferred it all to DVD using those inexpensive machines that record the video and audio signals (analog) into real time within  these 4.7 GB blank DVD-R/+R  discs..
Now using a word program (.doc) I systematically categorized each of these discs by a collection number./ Title  then how many sub titles or chapters plus running time/ years-dates  and description of each chapter down in my word doc. I did all this back in 2007..
BUT when 3.6 was released it had this fantastic  area employed within that used a 'blocking' mechanism called 'Exclusion Set' ( thanks Ken! ) that would prohibit this/these titles from entering my 'main stream' of regular theatrical hollywood movies (on line) that we all own. So by blocking these titles I wouldn't have to worry about 'others' reading these descriptions of what my family did on  our summer vacation.
I edit the entire word document to perfection including Bold and underline and then copy and paste this over to Profiler under Overview for each disc and that disc is ID coded using my DVd rom player.
I makeup a nice jpg for front and rear of the 'said dvd' and using that jpg I can narrow in faster in finding that DVD and with the notes as extensive as I have them find that clip or chapter very quickly using DVD profiler..
So by using Profiler's search area I can (i.e.) easily find "Uncle Charlies 1958 Corvette" for instance and get to that disc pretty quick..

So bottom line Shaner.,, It's all fine and dandy to keep your 'home movies in word doc , ,But try and use Profiler to its advantages and you'll never loose your library and its notes by backing up properly using the .dbp extension rather than depending on the.doc extension and 'swing those notes' over to profiler you alone can cut and paste into Overview ( which is of course Text) ..

The other beauty I love using digital media these days as well is there are programs such as what I use called DVD fab6 that can analyse my home made dvds and set its chapters up so I can 'copy' say chapters 5-6-7 and 8 over to a digital form called  video_TS and that file can then be converted over to .avi file using many differant inexpensive/free programs (avs4you).. Then using the Free Windows Movie maker program from XP or later  swing that/those  .avi file's  into the moviemaker and edit it and any subtitles and use included special visual effects as well as adding additional music.., save the whole works again under another .avi file then upload that edited piece - (from i.e. chapters 5/6/7/8/ each five minutes long  using that inexpensive player I described in the top post) - down from 20 minutes to say 5 or six minutes of "Oscar award"  material (    )  and then upload that 6 minute video to Youtube  and then direct that link over to Uncle Charlie who lives 3000 miles away and he gets to enjoy the video too..

What a time we live in...

I would recommend picking up a USB flash drive or an external USB hard drive to use as a backup for important files - for example, your DVD Profiler backup file.
