Sneaking Cameras into a Concert |

| | Posted: | | | | In June I'm going to see Weird Al and then in July I'm going to see Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band when they come to town and I've been trying to figure out a way to sneak my camera in. I've got a Canon SX20is, so it's kinda bulky. Both concerts will be outside and I was thinking of buying a black nylon windbreaker that folds up into a pouch to hide the camera. Anyone else have any ideas? Thanks in advance. | | | We're on a mission from God.

Thanks in advance. I am not sure why you would risk being escorted out of a concert that you payed money to see. |

Unless they have zero security, or their security is blind, the odds are fairly good that you will be seen taking a picture. Four of us went to see Coyote Run & Albannach last weekend, and my friend Sharon got her picture taken with all of the band members. As for sneaking in a camera, the only thing I can sneak in anywhere is a bottle of water in a movie theatre. I probably wouldn't even try to take my cell phone, much less a camera (once, when I went to a movie sneak peek, the security had a wand they waved over you to see if you had a cell phone on you and they would look in a lady's purse for cell phones & cameras). Saw Ringo & his band back in the 90's when they played at the Palace in Louisville. They put on a pretty good show. Still have the 4 song CD I bought at the booth. | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

| | Posted: | | | | I've found that, due to the impossibility of stopping camera phones going in, they're not too bothered nowadays about compact digital cameras (no problem being allowed to take ours into the recent Kiss concert in London) but any camera that will produce potentially 'professional' level pictures for publication they will still probably object to so I wouldn't try to get an SLR size model in unless you know they won't mind.

Same here in Norway. It would start a huge media storm from outraged concert goers if they started to confiscate cell phones with cameras, so they have started to write on tickets that cell phone and compact cameras are allowed, but not SLRs. | | |

" I might still bring my Nikon P60, since the seats are 26 rows from the stage, plus it can fit in my pocket without any problems.
As for the Ringo Starr concert the website says, " Prohibited Items: Items not allowed in this venue include: Pets (except service animals), bottles and cans, drugs and alcohol, fireworks, laser pointers, and weapons of any kind (this includes pocket knives, wallet chains, spiked jewelry, mace, and pepper spray). Items allowed in this venue include one factory-sealed bottle of water." I'll have to call them on the day of show I guess. | | | We're on a mission from God.

| | Posted: | | | | You should definitely check the venue's policy as well as the artist's. My local venue's policy is compact cameras are allowed unless the artist prohibits them. I had front row seats to see Def Leppard several years ago and got some great shots...some you can even see the security guard looking right at me without a care in the world.  | | | | My phpDVDprofiler collection |

Not only do they put on a great show, but they allow non-professional cameras. Even these small digital cameras these days are up to 10MB of resolution in size.. and can produce some pretty good video.. But usually the running time would be under 3 minutes ..
