Hi, i installed the new release 3.6.0, built 1382 with no error message of any kind during installation. Now, after starting the profiler it shuts down automatically before I can even point anything...
Re-installing did not help neither.
What to do? thanks

Just shooting in the dark here but try
1) Run database repair
2) Holding down CTRL as it starts up
3) Holding down CTRL, ALT, and SHIFT as it starts up
It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong

As a feedback: It's exactly the same for me - instant crash once it is started.  Not loading the plugins ect. is not helping.

Does it crash, or just not show up on the desktop?

A crash in Win7 usually is accompanied by an error message of the OS.
Use the taskmanager to check if dvdpro.exe is still running (process-tab, not applications)
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

The same occurs with Vista. The following is from the Administrative Event Log:

Faulting application dvdpro.exe, version 3.6.0.1382, time stamp 0x2a425e19, faulting module user32.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791a773, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00014ad7, process id 0xca0, application start time 0x01cacf1cef4e23f0.

What happens is the first page comes up and then after displaying, the application goes immediately into a hang state and Vista says it needs to shut the application down.

I am running Vista with SP1 on my laptop - 4GB memory - 32bit OS. The laptop is an ASUS M51S series with ESET Anti-virus running (4.0.437.0 is the version).

If there is any additional information that you need to help resolve this issue, please let me know. At this point I am wondering if there is a way to roll-back the upgrade.

Thanks -
-Bob

When you press and hold CTRL as the program launches, what displays?  What options on that screen have you tried?

Not sure if this might help you with your DVDProfiler problem, but SP2 is available and should be installed for several reasons.

It was happening to me, but I got past it by holding some key (shift or control?) when DVD Profiler was starting. I also am using the "nosplash" switch to skip the startup screen.

Hi

same here...

Running XP with latest SP. Profiler shuts down after a while and disappears from the process list.

Happens mostly while scrolling thru my collection or editing profiles. Some of the Covers appear as "red place holder" in Thumbnail view after restarting the Profiler. This can be fixed by using the Database repair feature - until the Profiler crashes again.

For anyone experiencing this, make sure you have opened a support ticket.  We're solving them on a case by case basis.  In general, it is either an old plugin that's not working well with 3.6, or a virus scanner/firewall that needs to be configured to allow DVD Profiler to run.
