I regularly watch the new additions to upcoming releases on Blu-ray.com.  They seem to get wind of new releases faster than most sites.

Most times I can find it listed on Amazon.com, but there is no UPC code there either.  If I search the web on the "ASIN" code (whatever that is, but it seems to be a unique ID), I can sometimes find a site that has the UPC code listed.

When I can't find a UPC code, I usually just add them to my local database on my "Wish List" using a fictitious UPC code.  I'd like to contubute these, but without a UPC code or a DiscID, I don't see how.

Is it even possible?

FYI, the particular title I'm talking about here for reference is "Moon", found:

Blu-ray.com : Moon Blu-ray
and
Amazon.com : Moon (Blu-ray)

I know this next comment should go in the feature requests, but would it be useful to be able to contribute pre-release titles using the ASIN number/id?

These can't be contributed until you find the actual UPC.  There are some users here who know good sites for that, there was even a thread recently...here.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

For US UPCs, the most update list is probably Michael's Movie Mayhem

Thanks for the insight/help.  I checked the sites listed (in this thread and the previous one about UPCs), and found nothing yet.

I'll search again in a week I suppose.  When I find the UPC, I'll submit the profile.

It really is a shame that we can't submit pre-releases without UPC though, by the previously mentioned ASIN code, which is unique.

I can hope.

Well here's a handy little trick you're going to like then:

If the UPC has actually been annouced at all (sorry, but Moon is too far off!) go to Amazon, find out the ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number) and then plug it on to the end of this url:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d.html?pd=1&l=Product Details&a=

The page that comes up will give you the matching UPC.

(Works with Amazon.co.uk too just by changing the .com to .co.uk)

The ASIN code is AMAZON only which is why it is not used and i expect will never be, it doesnot appear anywhere save Amazon. Many is the time that I wait for UPCs on titles which i know are coming out...sometimes for many weeks...but I wait . I am waiting right now for UPC data to come in from somebody on several titles which have been announced, and they are not on the Amazon back door yet either. So I wait.

Until the UPC is available it cannot be contributed PERIOD. It has been so for ten years and there is no need to change  it. All will come in due time.
