Episode Divider Numbering for TV series split into volumes? |

| | Posted: | | | | When a TV Series is split into volume sets what exactly is the correct way to number the episode dividers?
I've come across people handling it different ways.
Let's say that a Season set has 24 episodes and is split into 2 volumes.
1. Treat each volume separately. In other words, each 12 episodes are numbered 1-12 for each volume.
2. Treat the volumes as a continuation of the previous volume. In other words, Volume 1 is numbered 1-12 & Volume 2 is numbered 13-24.
3. Treat volumes as a continuation of a complete series. In other words, Season 2, Volume 1 would be numbered 25-36. Season 2, Volume 2 would be numbered 37-48. And so on and so on.
Oh FYI, none of the episodes are numbered in the packaging or on the dvd menu. |

Eg. if Seasons 1 and 2 are 24 episodes each and split into 2 volumes each Season 1 Vol 1 1 is 1-12, s1v2 is 13-24, s2v1 is 1-12 again, s2v2 is 13-24.
If the series was just one long run (like a soap opera) just keep numbering them 1-12, 13-24, 25-36 etc. | | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

Totally agree! I have no opinion on this but. Sometimes TV series are Episodes are numbered and sometimes thatnumbering starts at 1 with each season. Sometimes they use a numberinsystem of their own. Then there are those where, that will be fought about on numbering because some shows are listed according Airdate and Others are listed according to Production Date and of course this can be done inconsistently through a series at Hollywood's whim. The closest that I would come to taking a position is IF there is numbering system set up by the distributor...that is what we use. Beyond that, it can be dangerous territory. That is my take on how number should work.
