I don't recall if it's possible to disable it but it's downloading all the updates to the master list of UPC's and Titles.  It's done to ensure that you can add any profile that's in the online database - and you can't if it's not in your local copy of the master list.

the online profile list is the list of all the movies in the database. It needs this so when you go to add new dvd you get the list of titles. It should only need to download the complete file once and thereafter just download updates to the file.

If you are constantly stopping it from downloading then it will download the complete list every time you go to add. Just let it finish once. and then the future updates will be much smaller (the longer you go without adding a dvd or refeshing profiles the larger the updates will get).

also, the speed at which it downloads will be limited by your connection speed. It only takes about a minute or 2 to download for me.

something is going on because it shouldn't need to download the whole thing each time.

Is there any limit on your profile directory that would cause the online list to be deleted when you close profiler?

Sorry this isn't may not help much but I have heard of this problem before but can't recall the reason. It should (as Agrare says) only download the few Kb of updates once you've had a full download once but obviously there is some problem which is forcing a full download each time for you.

When DVDP is open and after the download check the path:

C:\Documents and Settings\"your name"\Application Data\DVD Profiler

and see if there is are files OnlineList.dod and OnlineListSel.dod (about 23Mb each!)

If so (and they should be there; this is the info that should have just been downlaoded about the online Db) see what happens when you close the program.
What happens when you open it again?

If they disappear then this is wrong!

I would suggest if you find any of the above check the permissions you have to write to certain folders in case files are only being held temporarily.

As a work around you could try copying the .dod files (if thwey are there!) to somewhere safe and then manually putting them in the right place before opening/before the download begins (there is an option to disable it temporarily I think) so the program (hopefully) sees them there and just downlaods the updates as it should.

Other than that try opening a support ticket and see what Ken says!

I also heard that deleting them (OnlineList.dod and OnlineListSel.dod) could help. After that Profiler once downloads the whole ~23MB file and after that you'll only get a few kb-sized updates every day.
