The cast list has Dividers added to goup the roles as in the creidits. But the cast members have no roles attatched to them, exept from in the divider. Then when the film credits start listing single roles again, the profile has added emty dividers.

I simply removed the deviders and added roles to each cast member instead, but it got declined. I had one vote, and it was to keep the cast list as it was, with deviders.

I'm just wondering how to contribute this to make it leagal according to the contribution rules.

I think the proper thing is to do both, this has been discussed before and I mean that the conclusion was that every entry should have an role attached regardless of the dividers, just as you was doing but the dividers are in the cred and should also be left alone.

Unfortunately, the screeners are not consistent on these contributions.  Sometimes they approve them, sometimes they don't.

For the record, what you describe is not a seperated cast list, it is a group role header.  The role should be entered into the role field without dividers.

Dividers should be used for a credit list like this:

New York Police

Sam Neil      Detective Rich
John Smith  Officer Sanders
Sally Fields  Officer Brown

Not for this:

New York Police
Sam Neil
John Smith
Sally Fields

As I have said in other threads today the rules have to be clearer...  and updated as things clear up.

The search mode for this in the forum is not great. But what I found from back in 2007 the opinions goes the oposite way around when someone asked...
I won't quote (as this has been taken as neg before) but it is somewhat interesting

I know there is a more up to date discussion in here somewhere but cant seem to find it by search tools...  and even if I use google I only get linked to that persons all in one bunch of posts getting me nowhere near the actual post, any sugestion for serach?

Me2, but this is what I did, and it got declined.

But I actually thought you could use dividers like this:

****Dancers****
Sam Smith  Dancer
John Doe    Dancer

Or is this wrong.

It sometimes depends on your notes.  When I remove them, I state that it is a 'group role', not a divided cast list and I have yet to get one declined

In my opinion, it is wrong, though people do enter them that way and the screeners do accept them.  As I said before, the screeners are inconsistent on these contributions.

Once again I agree with Unicus on the matter. But as he said... the screeners are very inconsistent on this for some reason.

Has there been an clearification from Ken on this?

Because as I said the tone in here 1,5 yars ago was the oposite, screeners can get confused also

If divider descriptions somehow got automatically added to the description of the below actors, I would agree, but this is not the case, so removing cast descriptions in any case, is at the moment IMO wrong....

Thanks guys.

But as this don't seem to be accepted my 2nd time either. If I do use dividers, when goup roles are finished and individual roles continue, should I then use a blank divider, or what should I do. The problem today is that the individual roles are blow dividers for other roles, so I think this makes it a bit confusing. There are blank dividers today, which will show as a blank space online.

Personally I think this is correct and the best way so that when using cross referencing (and if we're not worried about that then there's no point in trying to get to a common name!) you don't get a blank role.

However leaving out the role is, AIUI, not against the Rules so I would (and have) Vote Yes for either version... it would be nice to get more Rules guidance though.
