| | Posted: | | | | A new install overwrites the existing install with the exception of betas. Your database will be converted to the newer version so it's always a good idea to backup your database prior to upgrading - just in case.
Hell, it's a good idea to make frequent backups - just in case. |

I realize for you guys from DVDSpot this will probably be one of your main priorities, since you're used to having your collection online, but for me it's not important to be able to access it via the web. I do a Backup Database (no images) every few days or whenever I make any 'major' additions/changes. that then gets emailed to my other PC and also (usually) put onto a memory stick. I do an upload to the online database after any changes. | | Posted: | | | | I built a computer dedicated to be my NAS/backup unit. In addition to having my entire collection uploaded up to the DVDP server, I also make a regular backup locally and then backup that file on my main server as well as the NAS, then my entire My Documents directory is backed up to the NAS (which includes the DVDP database). I also have my collection synced to my PocketPC as yet another redundant backup.
And if all that fails, I have my Collection.xml file on my web server....
