I am new to DVD Profiler just now so sorry for the noob question/if this has been covered before.  The forum search times out a lot and I didn't come across this topic (but there are too many topics to page through them ALL).

Before I installed this program I wrote and managed my own DVD system, very pedistrian compared to this.  I would love to import, and share, all of my collection but I cannot seem to be able to import it.  All the data is kept in a MSSQL DB and fairly straight forward and the titles number about 5000.

I have tried the UPC import plugin but it does not bring in any other of my pertinent data (title, actors, studio, etc.) and the bulkedit isn't that helpful in this case.

So, A) is there a mass import tool (with field mapping or templates) and B) where does one learn about writing plugins if one does not exist?

Thanks in advance, and again, sorry for the noob-ish-ness

a) No.
b) There's a forum for plugin developers, you have to request access and write something about your programming experience.

BTW: You should read the contribution rules first. Some data must not be contributed.

Do you simply prefer to use your own info (Actor's, Studios, etc) or do you not realize you get all that with the import tool (because when you download the UPC-linked profiles you get all that info)?  At a minimum you'd only have to edit the info to match your own if it differs that much from our base profiles.

If you simply like your own info better that's fine.  Likely the plugin gurus can help.

Yep; absolutely vital because the Search facility on these Forums is... well, let's say it leaves a lot to be desired and doesn't even compare to the excellent functionality of the program it supports!

After you have imported all the UPC's with the UPC import plugin then you need to refresh all the profiles so that the remaining information is downloaded from the main database.

1st flag all your profiles -

collection / flags / flag all filtered

then refresh these profiles

collection / flagged / refresh

Thanks for your feedback everyone.  I guess what I need can't be done.

It's not that I like my data more or think that it is better; I refresh the images and the profiles and only a handful is downloaded.  I have already scanned all the covers and entered much of the data in my on database so for all the titles that remain '***imported UPC ...' I would like to at least identify them by name.  Images are easy, I can rename them either UPCf or UPCb and they automatically show up as the correct images for the title once I copy them into the images directory.

The google search hint is huge, thanks Tweeter
