Hi

How can I load my collection onto another computer?

For instance I want to set it up on my work computer but am not sure how to do it.

Thanks

back up from your first PC.
Copy backup file to usb key / cd etc
restore backup to new Pc (you will need to install dvd profiler on the work PC - do they allow that?)

You could try a copy & paste install.

1) take a flash drive
2) Program: copy everything from <your programs folder>\DVD Profiler onto the drive
3) User Data: copy everything from <your personal files>\DVD Profiler onto the drive (but don't mix it up with the Program files!)
4) open the Registry via Start -> Run -> regedit.exe -> OK
5) go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Invelos Software -> DVD Profiler
6) select the key DVD Profiler in the left tree
7) use File -> Export to export the Data onto the drive

now on your work PC.
1) copy the Program into a directory of your own
2) copy the User Data into <your personal files>\DVD Profiler
3) right click on the registry file -> Edit
4) change the "AppPath" to where you copied your Program (mark the double "\"!)
5) double-click the registry file and import it
6) run DVD Profiler from your Program directory

When the application starts up but can't find the database then chose "Open another Database" and select it from <your personal files>\DVD Profiler\Databases\Default

Now you've mirrored your database. Via Backup/Restore you keep them both in sync.

Karsten

If the sofware installation isn't allowed, the registry editing may be block too

But usually every user can write in his/her own branch of the registry, otherwise many programs wouldn't work.

The programs can't update the registry unless specific keys used with the programs we use are unlocked for us. One of the real pains of having our IT out sourced.

And yes.. everything really is locked down.
