Is there a way to import titles from a file or movie directories? |

| | Posted: | | | | I Have a list of titles in a file and want to import these. Is there a way to semi-automate it so I don't have to cut and paste each title? Alternatively, is there a way to import a list of titles from individual directory names (I.E., movies on an HTPC Hard Drive)?
PS, I don't mind looking up each title individually during the add process, just want to cut out the cut and paste step, which is tedious and error prone.

How would it know which one was yours?
It would only make sense if you were adding the titles in 'manual' mode, which would mean you waouldn't get any of the data in the online database for them, or any updates.
That's why we add by (and index on) the barcode number (UPC or EAN) but you CAN speed up the process a lot by getting a cheap barcode scanner, like a CueCat, off Ebay which you can then use to scan each DVD quickly.

Thanks for the quick reply! I understand your point, however, what I'm hoping to automate is entry by title. Yes, this forces me to decide witch movie I have from a list, but. That it eliminates the cut and paste of movie titles... What I'd envision is a queue of movie titles taken from a file or directory listing, then one-by-one I add them...

| | Posted: | | | | Titles are only added thru UPC/EAN or Disc ID,, not The title itself.., You could theoretically change any Title to another name or edition once its in your data base ( not contributed of course),, that is why the Invelos program only works with the Bar code and /or disc ID.. Not title.. It could be a long night ahead for you.. How many titles are we talking about? If you did ten per session per 10 per hour it won't take that long. Try and do the work in off peak hours so the bandwidth on your Internet is not as taxing as it could be during peak hours. ( i.e. faster )...
