Count: 6 Other Count: 4 Time Started: 6am Plot:Boris Karloff plays the title role in the Lewton adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's The Body Snatcher, directed with subtle calculation by versatile Robert Wise. A doctor (Henry Daniell) needs cadavers for medical studies and Karloff is willing to provide them - one way or another. Don't miss his scene with fellow horror icon Bela Lugosi. My Thoughts:This is my very first taste of Val Lewton. I normally liked to go into a new movie with low expectations... but I admit I went into this one a little hyped. But that is ok... I absolutely loved every minute of it. Sure it moves a little slower then the movies I am used to... but I believe that is to be expected with the classics. Besides... the story was so good... so interesting that even the slow parts had you glued to the set. I so enjoyed watching both horror legends in this movie... Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi both gave great performances. Every scene with the two of them together was great... but especially one scene in particular. The scene where Joseph (Lugosi) finally had enough of John Grey (Karloff)... and decided it was time to settle things. I really enjoyed everything about this movie... from the beginning to the well written (although somewhat predictable) ending. This is one true classic I highly recommend! What did you think of Uninvited? I just got that one.... but haven't had the chance to watch it yet. I am a big fan of the original Korean movie. I thought it was a good remake, lot better than remakes of Grudge or Ring. They changed the plot around a little bit and made the storyline lot more clear than the Korean version. If you watch the featurette, they say that that was intentional to cater to the American audience. I give it a solid 7 out of 10. | | | | My Home Theater |

| | Posted: | | | | Not sure if any of you are taking suggestions, but I just watched an anime movie the other day that I would whole heartedly recommend to anyone (even those who don't like anime). Perfect BlueIt's very much different then any other anime I've seen. Very creepy, and plays with the viewer's head just as much as the main character. A classic in my book from an excellent director! A pleasant, well-put-together little documentary about the history behind Halloween, its customs and celebrations. Nothing new, nothing I didn't know before, but reasonably good anyway. A for the reasonable, realistic portrayal of modern pagans. Verdict: 2.5/5 (a tolerable, entertaining waste of time)* * make a 3/5 if you don't know know much about the history of Halloween | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

Featured together with the Peanuts short "It's Magic, Charlie Brown." What would Halloween be without "Great Pumpkin?" Simply a perennial favorite of the season since I was a small child. Verdict: 4/5 (an excellent cartoon) * The companion short, "It's Magic, Charlie Brown" is really only a 2.5/5, especially when sat beside a great cartoon like "Great Pumpkin" | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

| | Posted: | | | |  In the 2008 remake, a town falls victim to an unknown virus that soon turns people into the walking dead. Well, walking isn't quite the right word, they tend to run and run very fast. Jump too - and not to forget the occasional "spider" zombie that climbs walls.
