Just always put the number that the DVD has in DVDP on your case, put it in this way into your storage and now print a report with your collection or look in DVDP what you are searching and you have it easy to find the movie.
For example you search Crank. It has 563 in your collection, you'll find it between 562 and 564. |

I've thought arranging them by DVDProfiler collection numbers, but that would clash with my "OCD" of having matching spines (eg TV series etc.). | | |  |

FYI i don't clue anything to the spin I actually use clear packing tape, it comes right off if need be. Also as far as organizing it in alphabetical order that is too time consuming considering i'm always buying DVD/Blu-Rays. That would involve always rearranging my DVDs on the shelves. I don't know about you, but I can find other things to do with my time, like watch a movie..  It's easier for me to use the DVDP collection #, because I can print the last 2 pages of my report and keep my catalog up to date. My catalog helps when people come over to watch movies and don't want to stand there and look at all the movies. They can simply flip open my binder and see exactly what I have, see whether or not its DVD or Blu-Ray find the number and go straight to it, No Questions No Problems. I hope that explains the method to my madness..  |

Depends on how many titles you have. I sort mine alphabetically within genre. Believe me my TV series are out of order, and the OCD kicks in when I see it, but I have to resist to keep everything in collection number order.. |

But, what I don't understand is this: If you're going to sort by collection number, you don't need to stick the number on the disc to find it. | | Posted: | | | | I've never found much use for Collection Number other than keeping track of how many purchased items I've picked up as I don't assign one to boxset contents. For example, the Indiana Jones trilogy will get a number but the child movies will not.
The thing I use it for the most is to sort my recent purchases to the top of the list.
But if you label your cases with the collection number, be sure you don't accidentally renumber them! |

Slot 1:12
Means rack 1 shelf 1 slot 12
I then keep a thin notebook next on the shelf listed alphabetically. When somebody come over, they can scan the notebook, and find the movie.
I am actually thinking about expanding the notebook, and include full sheets on each movie, with an index.
I found out a long time ago, that reorganizing movies alphabetically became a hassle, especially when you needed to make room for a box set.

I don't let peoples veiws of a movie persuade me in any way because I like to make my own opinion about movies. So definatly a gamble. I totally lost the gamble with The Stepfather and Smokin' Aces 2: Assasins Ball.... but I have broke the bank on a bunch! For me, it the thrill of finding an unknown gem of a movie that maybe 10 people in the world have heard of! |
