Faceless people ??? Who they really are??? I don't know. Can anyone tell me? And where are covers they compare to these we are sending??? If they have better, genuine  and right coloured covers why the hell we should scan anything? Share the best ones and people are happy. A lot sharper and  bigger resolution covers are what people need. 1 % too yellow or too green or too red is not so bad. I'll take a break and become selfish and concentrate only scanning into own archive.

They are people that work for Invelos as screeners.  They look at all the profiles that are submitted and decide what will or won't make it into the main DB.

They compare the contributed data and images, with the data and images that already exist in the main db.  If, in their opinion, the data and images are better, they approve them.  If they don't, they don't.

Unlike hard data, like cast and crew, cover scans are subjective.  Each person has a different eye, monitor, video card, etc. and will not see the image exactly the same.  Just because you believe it is an improvement, doesn't make it so.  It is the job of the screeners to make that decision.

I always keep my covers ...but thats because after contribution i lock them as i use 1000x700 sixed covers.
I can see where aGsu is coming from, as my previous scanner did exactly what he described. But havent seen the contribution, so cant really say what i would have voted.

Very true... a while ago I submitted a scan (for the XYY Man series) and got a few people saying it was way too green, even though I'd matched the cover side-by-side with the image on my laptop screen to get it spot on.
I thought maybe I just had a rather 'green tinted' cover compared to some print runs and the Invlos screeners quite rightly turned it down for good reasons... my cover was an odd one? a couple of No votes? whatever the reason (I didn't know) it was their decision and I respected that and just kept the covers local without having a tizzy.

A couple of months later I got a second monitor to 'extend' my desktop and one day soon after I moved DVDP onto the second monitor when it happened to have the XYY Man profile open... flippin' 'eck it was so green! Now I knew why I'd had trouble!

Further investigation showed the laptop monitor was so far out in some colour areas (despite the fact I hadn't noticed for years) that pale pinks actually displayed as yellow! Not surprisingly I always check scans on other monitors now...

So why people vote ??? That's the main point. People should be encouraged to be active but if it's just the same to vote it's waste of time. Screeners are the Gods. I start this discussion with words "keep your covers, I keep mine" and with these words it's time to stop. Bye.

For me it seems the starter of this thread never wanted a solution or explanation from us, he seems to overread what we are saying

People vote because neither the screeners, nor Invelos, own every single copy of every single DVD/Blu-ray/HD DVD.  They rely on us to help them see things they might otherwise miss.

As I said before, cover scans are subjective.  I went back and looked at your original post.  You had four people vote on your contribution...3 yes, 1 no...the screener agreed with the 1 no.  It happens.

Sorry your mind is closed Stidi.  We honestly tried to help you but you if do not want it, feel free to leave.  No real point in returning to the forums.

Keep your scans, sorry things didn't work out.

I personally fully understand Stidi's point of view. As I read his post, he didn't ask for help, he just gave an opinion about the way contributions are refused. I don't think is mind is closed, at least far less than those of the teachers, or doctors, that think they bring help but just make people want to fly far from here.

We also don't have the full picture, just his side of things.  He didn't say why the photos were declined, just that they were, or what the NO vote said.  Pretty much is every comment was accusatory as well without seemingly trying to understand the system - thus my closed mind comment.

It is pretty obvious, that the threadstarter didn't know too much about the screening process and the voting systems and its influence on the release of submissions to begin with.

The numerous attempts to explain the works to him / her seemingly fell on deaf ears, not to mention the complaint refers to THE most subjective part of profile submissions available.

I don't find any form of lecturing in this thread, just civil and well spoken attempts to explain the process of submitting, voting and screening.

If someone just wants to blow off some steam about a seemingly injust way of doing things around here, they are surely free to express their feelings.

Calling other users trying to help understand the actual process involved to a user obviously not in the know closed minded, teaching and doctoring is, IMHO, voluntarily besides the point and in the case of the user making this comment, done against better knowledge regarding the intentions of the users trying to clarify things.

It was the first message posted by this user (Stidi) in one year, so it's believable that he doesn't frequent the forum regulary. He had just decided to wrote his frustations that's all, he isn't certainly the only one to do that (an user that I will not named opens that genre of thread regulary to attack the others contribution). At least the openning message wasn't a personnal attack and to be honest 50% of what is posted on the forum is normally useless...

I know my post is also
