I think sometimes that people want to always blame the disc, but sometimes its the player as well. I had a disc on my X-Files complete collection that refused to play, it was just skip and have distortions on the screen. I then tried it another dvd player and had no problem.
We're on a mission from God.

Yes the laser eye might be dirty  or simply worn out..

Yeah, I had that one. There was a similar release of Terminator that went bad also.


Same here but that was totally different from the 'rot' on CDs and laserdiscs and should not really be counted under the same banner; it was a 'one-off' mistake in the dyes used on the label (IIRC) and an exchange was offered at the time.

Over 1,000 music CD's (many date back to the early to mid 80's I think), over 400 DVD's and HD & BD DVD's. Never experienced a problem with any.

I had a bad case of rot show up on one of my data CD's I burned about 10 years ago.
