| | Posted: | | | | I remember buying Profiler I think still at 2.4 and then having 3...and the last time I was using it regularly was some years back. I stopped cataloguing the odd dvd and bluray I bought just through idleness I guess... Anyway, I bought a new laptop recently and was trying to remember what to put on it - and remembered DVD Profiler. Logged in and found my licence still valid and it was now v4 which was a nice surprise.
Reading threads here, Ken has obviously disappeared for his own reasons and it's too bad support is no longer maintained, even if the website and other support stuff is still here. Must admit I was surprised DVDP was still going, given the drop off in the DVD/blu/4k disc market in the last few years. But kinda glad it was!
Back in the mid to late 00's I handed over a small sum of money for a program I got a lot of use from at the time. 12 or 13 years later, it's been updated a fair bit and I'm still allowed to use the program without paying anything extra. Pretty sure NONE of my other software I use allows me to have the latest versions without paying more (minor updates notwithstanding).
I think that's worth remembering - there is an awful lot of moaning within these walls, back in the day and again recently but ultimately paying 30 dollars or whatever over 10 years ago probably means we've all had more than our money's worth today in 2019.
So if nothing is ever done again on DVDP, I would still say to Ken a huge thanks for providing such a great program and a generous deal. Maybe too generous. And whatever he's doing, I wish him well - and hope he is well. | | | | Last edited: by Flip Martian |

| | Posted: | | | | I just came back to check here after many years away too, and after giving a quick read around here yesterday, find what I was going to say the OP here already did,  I had a very old PC still running XP that was mostly only used for Profiler in my old Home theater, but I stopped buying DVD/Blu roughly 5 years ago, and since upgrading this PC to W10 from W7 years ago, I could no longer Network with the old XP, so days ago after setting up a new W10 pc on the HT and installing a fresh copy of DVDP was curious as to why still on V4.  Sad to read that DVDProfiler has not been worked on for years now, except for the DB? I have here old backups from 2005  and think I was using Profiler before that. Well, I'll keep on using Profiler until W10 kills it, same fate as other old software around here suffering all kinds of hiccups that I had to remove after W10 upgrades, besides I'm planning on a new 4k screen and picking up a few 4k discs for testing before it all moves to the cloud!!!  PS: anyone knows if the 'Head shots" files are still upgraded? and where they are located now?  | | | | Last edited: by mixmachine |
