| Posted: | | | | The Contribution Rules state that "Edition is generally displayed on the front cover, but may also be gathered from the back cover if present." I have a situation where there is clearly an Edition name above the title on the front cover, but a previous contributor used an edition name from the back cover (which I don't think qualifies as an edition name). Specifically, the item currently uses an Edition name of "Disney Exclusives" taken from the back cover, even though above the title on the front cover appears "The Wonderful World of Disney". I think that the front cover should take precedence. A voter disagrees, saying that there is nothing in the rules that says that. How can we get clarification on this? |

| Posted: | | | | I would agree although the recent editions updates have gotten out of hand IMO. It seems like the pendulum has swung so that any and all text on the front cover is getting added as an "edition". A lot of the Disney Blu-ray Exclusives have been updated with, for example, "[title]: Anniversary Edition: Disney Blu-ray Exclusive". |

If you ask me, I have no need for either "Disney Exclusives" or "The Wonderful World of Disney" in the "Edition" field - neither adds any value or is of any interest to me. As far as the "Edition" field is concerned, I'm a very "less is more" kind of guy. I would enter something along the lines of "35th Anniversary Edition", but I would not enter random phrases like "The Wonderful World of Disney". But, confronted with these "Edition" contributions, I guess that most users adopt a stance of "well, I don't need this, but I won't vote against it", which, in the long run, indeed means that lots of "Edition" fields will be crammed with pretty much anything that appears both on the front and back covers. Given the lack of input from Invelos, it's pretty hard to decide where to draw the line. Quote: How can we get clarification on this? It doesn't seem like we can. You can start a poll, but even with a solid poll result, you're bound to get users saying: "well, I'll stick to my view until this makes it into the rules". And it won't, so it seems we're never really getting anywhere... | | | Last edited: by T!M |

| Posted: | | | | "The Wonderful World of Disney" on the front could be part of the title, since "The Wonderful World of Disney" was an anthology television series in the years 1969–1979. To me it is not an edition. see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walt_Disney_anthology_television_series#The_Wonderful_World_of_Disney_(1969-1979)
"Disney Exclusives" is a valid edition for some profiles as it is part of a group of "film" / "tv series" DVDs released by Disney, that were released exclusively through the Disney Movie Club, and are a unique release of the DVD. To me it is like "The Criterion Collection". see https://disneyexclusives.go.com/disney-exclusive-movies.html see https://disney.fandom.com/wiki/Disney_Movie_Club_Exclusive_DVDs |
