| Posted: | | | | Simple question: does a "Digital Supervisor" credit qualify for a "Visual Effects" entry? |

| Posted: | | | | Based upon how the current rules are written I'd say no. That's mainly because it doesn't include the word 'Effects' in the credit. Thus the credit is just too vague. Was the person really in charge of doing the digital effects or was the person just a digital artist or something similar. |

| Posted: | | | | It could also have nothing to do with effects at all or the art department at all. If the movie was, say, shot on RED, his role could be more akin to dealing with and maintaining the actual digital copies of the film takes. I also think it's too vague. | | | Last edited: by 69samael69 |

| Posted: | | | | No | | | My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT. FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that. Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it! |

Individual Credits: Visual/Digital/Special/Special Visual Effects, including Designer, Supervisor, and Director, Special Photographic Effects | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. |

For if we allow a credit such as Digital Supervisor what if there is a credit for 'Digital Designer' or 'Special Supervisor', then we'd have to allow them too. If one looks at IMDB they lump a whole bunch of people in the Visual Effects section of a film. Sure they may have had a hand in someway in the visual effects of a film, but is that what we're after here? Thing is, the credit itself is just too vague to determine what this person really did. That's not to say that a Digital Supervisor didn't do work in the Visual Effects of a film, but what exactly did they do. Could be anything to do with a computer or a digital file or whatever. |

I always took it that if they are listed as a Digital Supervisor under a Visual Effects company then it was implied. Also, we really need Ken to pipe in, but I guess he's lost to us. | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. | | | Last edited: by mreeder50 |

| Posted: | | | | One more observation. Why are the screeners approving them if they are not per the rules? | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. |

| Posted: | | | | If a 'digital supervisor' appear in the credits with no other context, I'd agree that they cannot be taken to have certainly worked on digital/visual effects, but when a digital supervisor shows up in a distinct 'visual effects' section of the credits, or - as in the profile submission that seems to have triggered this discussion - directly beneath a credits heading saying "visual effects by name-of-studio visual effects", it is safe to assume that they did in fact work with visual effects, and that they belong in the profile, also considering that the earlier submission has in fact been screened and accepted. |

I contributed a profile update removing a Digital Supervisor (Ant-Man and the Wasp), but it was approved anyway. I think 6 or 7 people voted to keep the invalid credit. | | | My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. | Posted: | | | | I wonder about the screeners.
1. Are they a select few of us users who are sworn to be silent? 2. Are they employees of Invelos? 3. Are they friends of Ken? 4. Far fetched, but could it be an automatic bot program? |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting mreeder50: Quote: One more observation. Why are the screeners approving them if they are not per the rules? 1. The screeners aren't perfect. There are plenty of incorrect data in the database. If we were to take screener approval as a proof of correctness, then pretty much every rule would be useless. 2. Ken has said that contributions with some errors may be approved if they bring mostly good information to the database, and that those errors can be corrected later (or something to that effect). | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users.
