| Posted: | | | | Contributions via version 4.0.0 are now enabled. Per our usual rollout schedule, contribution acceptance and processing will occur as normal, but releases of those accepted contributions are on hold pending the final release of version 4.0.0. The full release of that version will follow as soon as we have assessed and fixed any issues found.
Please post any issues encountered into this forum or the beta forum. | | | Invelos Software, Inc. Representative |

"Monday" Mondays are rather rare in the last years... But that is not the point. The point is communications. | | | Complete list of Common Names • A good point for starting with Headshots (and v11.1) |

While I have no problems with the actual facts, I have a rather big problem with the implications. Because to me this reads like you knew this away time was scheduled or at least foreseen. And you couldn't be bothered to make a short announcement beforehand that you may be away for a bit and we needn't worry? Instead you just left? I get it that you simply disappear for two years at a time, but so far you've never done it during a release cycle where people actually notice and even get worried about your personal health situation. Yes, we actually do care. I'm disappointed. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

The feeling of abandonment on this site becomes more pressing... It's really sad. Well at least the site is still up and running. Which sadly had me thinking, what to do if the site is no longer up. That the company folded up. As a back up, perhaps the community should look into some sort of way to continue sharing profiles if the worst ever did happen. One site that maybe a good site to use is the blu-ray.com forums. (I'm not saying start doing that now, but to have an agreement of the community to where to post about dvdprofiler). After all this could come with no warning at all...Look at what happened with the tvshowsondvd site. Just closed up and now just posts on facebook. But not everyone uses Facebook. |

| Posted: | | | | Even the facebook page does not seem very active...
Hope is the last to die, but let's be clear... The possibilities are very few.
We should create a new thread, and discuss with the most active users on the road to take... It would also be a good opportunity to make a statistic of active users.
The situation is very delicate, and it would be sad to lose all our work.

DVD Profiler would still work for me offline, as a cataloging tool, but indeed, there wouldn't be the benefit of being able to download someone else's work in the form of an existing profile. Also, the lack of the CLT would mean that I could no longer use the current common name-system - I 'd have to pick a different approach for that, like "real names", "IMDb-names" or "most-common-within-my-own-database". Still, I'd be very disappointed if it ended like that. Some of us have been here for up to twenty years. We've talked about Invelos's business model before, and many users, myself included, have stated that they'd be willing to pay a recurring fee in return for certain "plus" features. That could have provided more longevity, but nothing ever materialized. If Ken were to decide to call it a day, the very least he could do is tell us about it. He could even decide put the whole thing up for sale. But as of yet, contributions are still being processed regularly, and clearly the bills that ensure the server stays up and running are still being paid. But the complete lack of any feedback whatsoever sure is worrying. At the very least, Ken still occasionally buys a new disc, as can been seen from his online collection, which he last uploaded on August 25. It remains baffling to me that, while contributions are being processed daily and clearly the server is still being paid for, that it's apparently impossible to get even the smallest rules update done - even bringing the rules in line with the changes in the latest DVD Profiler version hasn't happened. If Ken spent *one* morning a year on updating the rules and settling a few recurring debates, this would be a very different place. Heck, even a lone hour could do a world of good. Is that really too much to ask? This is still one of my favorite applications, but that lack of even the tiniest bit of input I really don't understand. Even if he doesn't have the time for it, isn't physically able to (I sure hope there aren't any health issues in play here), or he's simply lost interest - then surely he could appoint someone else to do it? Several users here, myself included, have repeatedly offered to help. | | | Last edited: by T!M |

| Posted: | | | | It does seem like the software became an after thought a long while ago, but it's been roughly twenty years so I assume Ken is preoccupied with other things in life. I wonder what happened to all of the planned (mentioned) improvements.
The PC and Android version haven't been updated since the initial 4.0 release. The iTunes app was updated multiple times since it's initial 4.0 release to fix issues, but unfortunately the Android version has never received any love and hasn't been updated to fix the quirks or the feature set available in the iTunes version. |
