I have a boxset with Swedish crime movies. There is a profile in the online database for the parent. It lists children, but the children have not been contributed.

My set has different disc ids than the online profile. I have contributed full profiles for all seven of the boxset children in my set, but can I / should I contribute my boxset parent and thus overwrite the child ids of the existing boxset parent?

Alternatively I could create an alternative version for the parent. This would let me contribute it as a new profile, thus preserving the other parent. But I'm not sure the rules allow that. Or would the different disc ids for the children count as "significantly different content"?

Well, multiple disc ids are supported for the disc id in a profile. I don't know if it is supported for the child ids in a boxset parent.

Edit: A little further research indicates a quite different problem. I had DVDFab Passkey active when I added ids in the child profiles. It looks like Passkey corrupted the ids. I'll have to check if I get the same ids as the other parent if I don't use Passkey.

I've had similar problems with SlySoft AnyDVD and other programs changing the Disc ID.

Always generate a Disc ID without running anything that messes with the DVD drive in the background.

Passkey was indeed doing this until recently, but the latest update of the program (9.0.0.2) seems to have corrected the issue and the original Disc ID now stays the same and isn't altered.
