When performing the backup of the database the extension .dpb is being saved to Notepad instead of creating the appropriate backup files.

This PC is on Windows 10.

DVD Profiler is v. 3.9.1

What exactly do you mean by "saved to Notepad"?
Is the file that is generated marked with the Notepad-icon? That would be somewhat strange, but completely beside the point.

You can test the integrity of a backup-file by restoring it to a new(!) database:
File -> Open Database... -> New Database...
call it test or whatever and open it. Now you should see an empty list. Go
File -> Restore Database...
and see if all profiles are coming back.
