I have been a long time DVD Profiler user. Lately I have been getting this error #8965 a lot. I use the utility repair and it fixes it but when next time I open the program and use it normally I get the error again so I use the repair option again. It keeps happening every time now. I have no idea what should I do.

I would appreciate any help here.
I am on Windows 10 and I never got this error on the previous operating systems. My collection is huge and all go in different categories. The overall number is 9106. It is getting very annoying to do the repair every day.

What would you suggest me to do?
Thank you

It's not limited to Win 10. I've been getting this on and off under Windows 7. I posted a question about it over 2 months ago, but noone else seemed to have seen it then. At least noone commented on my question. I suspect that it has something to do with alternate IDs. At least I never saw this problem until that feature was introduced.

Fortunately I don't see the problem as often as you seem to do. I also have a large collection, but not quite as large as yours, 7000+ profiles. But it's still annoying.

Hmmm I thought it might have to do with Windows 10. I used windows 7 and then 8 then 8.1 but none caused this problem. Fixing database fixes it for the same session but then it comes back when I start the program the next day.

How often does it happen to you?

Oh, a couple of times a month, pehaps. It seems to occure more often when I add altenate IDs, but
I can't be sure that there is a connection.

If it occurs every day for you, I would suggest you try this:
- Take a backup
- Create a new database
- Restore into this new database
I know it'll take some time with a collection of your size, but it might be worth trying.

I guess I need to do that and see if it sorts it out.
Thank you very much

I did backup then made a new database then restored again. The problem went away for a very short time, but now again it is back.

It is so annoying and I have to use the repair option almost every time I open the program which takes very long time.

I hope there is a fix for this

In addition to GSyren's "recipe", you might try this:

After creating the backup, uninstall the DVDP program completely. If there are any remnants of earlier plugin installations on your hard drive, delete them. Re-install the program without any plugins. And then follow GSyren's suggestions (new database, into which you restore the backup).

After I upgraded to Windows 10, I had a lot of problems too, and this fixed it.

With Windows 10 I have no problem with the program, but got similar problems as your's when using plugins. I solved the problems by running dvdprofiler as an administrator. You could try that... perhaps it will help...

I've been around this software long enough to know and remember this error..  I'm sure it is in the plugins ..

try turning off all your plugins  and see what happens ..  No problems after that  reinstall these plugins ..
