But I don't see it in the rules, as I have run across profiles with location crews. Is it in the rules and I'm just overlooking it? | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |

| Posted: | | | | As far as the online database is concerned, they are the same. The ruling, by Invelos's Gerri Cole, is here. That is her answer to the question that was asked in the first post of that thread, whether we "should include the art director (or any other crew member) under something like "New York Unit"." The answer is this: Quoting Gerri Cole: Quote: As I read the rules, none of the Unit crew should be included. If that isn't enough, there's also a pretty unanimous poll adressing both "2nd Unit" and "Los Angeles Unit" credits, right here. | | | Last edited: by T!M |

This post is more than 6 years old, and this has never been added in the rules though in this period the rules have been updated many times. Is it still valid ?... I don't know... Is it impossible to find for a normal contributor ? Yes, sure... Quoting T!M: Quote: there's also a pretty unanimous poll adressing both "2nd Unit" and "Los Angeles Unit" credits, right here. Poll results have strictly no validity. Those results may support a rule change, but only Ken can decide to change , or precise, them. In this case, I have seen nothing. And if poll results become a rule, we could also discuss results for other fields... | | | Images from movies |

It is and has always been in the rules, in the phrase "Do not enter unit crew". To me, that did not and does not require any further clarification, but for those who do need additional clarification on how to read that particular rule, there it is. The post clarifies how to use it, but it already was in the rules. |

| Posted: | | | | Is there any other Crew?
I would think Location Crew are okay if there are no other Sound Crew, Costume, Make-up etc.
Some films list ONLY location Crew for each location where filming took place (including the main one).
However, Skyfall is not one of them. | | | Last edited: by GreyHulk |

| Posted: | | | | I agree with TheMadMartain. Gerri had only addressed Unit Crew and, imho, Location and Unit Crew are two distinctly different things. Others disagree. And so it goes... |

It says Do not enter unit crew such as "Unit Photographer" which in the case of location crews isn't the case. The actual crew credit matches what is in the rules. I first asked the question because I always thought location crews weren't allowed, but after looking the rules I couldn't find a valid reason not to include them. Quoting Kathy: Quote: I agree with TheMadMartain. Gerri had only addressed Unit Crew and, imho, Location and Unit Crew are two distinctly different things. Others disagree. And so it goes... Did she? That isn't what I took from it... Personally I do agree with it but if it is a rule then it should be added to the actual rules IMO. | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |

| Posted: | | | | I have a simple philosophy on these type of questions.
More data is better. For those who do not want "unit" or "location" crew in their local database, they can very easily be removed. If you do not want to contribute this data, you are not forced to do so. | | | Hal |
