| | Posted: | | | | I like to collect, mainly the Crime Dramas" from Mhz Networks Home Entertainment. I also like to add the original titles. I also like copy those titles rather typing them since my typing is not so great.
But the English translation of the these titles on the discs and those from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia are hardly ever the same. This leads me to wonder, exept in context and a great deal explaining can any two people speaking different languages can ever really understand each other.
Example, in most English dictionaries, the word “run” has over 100 definitions. | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own.

The easier the chosen words the more likely it is that the other understands what you mean.
Problems arise with subtext, figures of speech and colloquialisms.
Even more complicated it gets if two people, speaking different languages, communicate in a third.
If you want to have some fun try the following: Use Google-Translate to transform your post into French and then German and then back to English. You will be surprised about the result. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!

The farther away two people are linguistically or culturally the more you should try using clear pattern of speech. For example, if an English guy on the streets of London asks you for a fag, he's not trying to be offensive to you. But I think that there is no problem when there is no apriorism about what is written. Unfortunately, some people always think that they are attacked, and generally interpret what they read in a bad sense.
