I used to be able to add new titles to my laptop's DVD Profiler, then on my iDevices I would select "Update Collection" and it would add the new titles.  Now when I select "Update" it is no longer able to connect.

I getc
Well Tools>Option>Sharing has

"Share my collection on the network" checked.

Grant access to has "My network (subnet) only" checked.

may shared name and port that shows up at the bottom of my DVD Profiler matches my idevices shared name and port.  I have also changed it to match the IP address and I still get the same error message when I try to update:

My current port is 32847.
Anything else I can try?

Are your iDevices connected to your local WiFi?
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Yes, all devices are connected to the same local wifi, firewall is disabled and I am able to ping the desktop from my laptop with no packet loss.  What I can not do is upload the Desktop DVDProfiler information to my iPad nor iPhone despite me using the same Shared information inditacted at the bottom of DVDProfiler.

Not to sound like a broken record but make sure its local wifi and not 3/4G connected. I spent 2 hours extremely frustrated because I couldn't get anything to update and it was simply because I wasn't on my local network.

My iDevices do not have cell service, plus i checked their IP addresses, but thanks.
I am able to ping the desktop so I don't think its the router.  No clue here.

Router has now been reset to factory and the computer running DVDProfiler is getting pinged, but I am still not able to connect none of my iDevices to DVDProfiler.

Out of ideas here.

If you are using DHCP make sure your address of the desktop did not change.    Are you doing your ping by name or IP.  Other windows boxes will do a broadcast request for a host name's IP address using windows networking that the various apple devices do not do.  So if your address changed due to DHCP but your laptop is doing ping by name that could be it.

Thanks tkinnen, the IP address I got is from my router list of DHCP connections and it does match the one displayed on DVDProfiler.  I have tried using the IP address and the Name as well with no luck.  I ended up removing DVDProfiler all together and rebooting it with a fresh install but the issue is still there.

At first I really thought it was a firewall issue but even with all firewalls down and IP matching in the DHCP list no luck.

Few things to try, first verify that DVDP is actually listening for connections.

Run the command "netstat -na" and look for the port you have configured listed in DVDP on the bottom of it's screen.

For example from a commadn prompt:

Quote:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.3.9600]
(c) 2013 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

C:\Users\Thomas Kinnen>netstat -na | findstr 32847
  TCP    0.0.0.0:32847          0.0.0.0:0              LISTENING

C:\Users\Thomas Kinnen>

This shows me that DVDP is listening on the default port of 32847 on 0.0.0.0 (All IPv4 Addresses)

If you see that then DVDP is at least looking for connections.  A firewall still may be blocking it.

Also check in the "Tools Menu -> Options -> Sharing " and where it has "Grant Access To" see what is selected.  Also check Banned IPs.

Thanks Tom for your useful input, I finally go it to work again.

Still not sure what went wrong since it has been working just fine and nothing has changed in the hardware nor software.  I ended up deleting the program again, changing the IP in my home network for that computer and then going thru a new full reinstall of DVDProfiler.
