I have a lot of TV Series in my collection and have no need for the "child" profiles. Instead of manually deleting them one by one, does anyone have any suggestions how this could be done in a global manner - or maybe using one of the plugins?

Thanks.

Use the space bar to flag all the child profiles.

Then select Collection -> Flagged -> Remove

Unless you have some distinguishing characteristic to them, I don't see a way.

For me it would be quite easy because all those children are counted "0" and have no Collection number. So filtering on Genre 'Television' an Collection-Number 'None' would be a good start.

You could un-nest[1] your child-profiles, filter for television and then sort by running-time, that should make the flagging with space-bar a lot easier.

cya, Mithi

[1] Un-check "Collection -> Nest Box Sets". If you don't have this options see this posting

PS Whatever you do, make a full backup first, in case you delete more than you wanted!

Played around with Database Query, that should do the trick.

Just filter (the funnel-icon) out only the Child Profiles and after that go to 'General Information', search for all the titles that have genre 'Television', 'Run Query' and 'Safe Flag Set'.
Now simply load this flag set in DVD Profiler, give it a thorough check to see if any movies in box sets where were also marked and afterwards delete the flagged.

ACHTUNG: Should you have Complete TV-Series that are structured "Set - Season- Disc" the seasons will be also marked, so be sure to unflag them if you choose to keep them.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am going to try the Database Query method. I will let you know how it goes.

I used the Database Query exactly as you had suggested and I reduced my collection from 2069 to 1310. This value more accurately represents the actual number of movies and tv shows in my collection. Thanks again for your advice.

If that was your goal why didn't you just set the count as value to 0?

Setting the count value to zero doesn't remove the extraneous entries from my database. I have no need for the information provided in the children profiles - I can obtain all the info I need from the "parent" record. Plus the removal reduces the file sizes of my overall database.
