I am having a problem with DVD Profiler crashing.  Quite often now, when I try to open a profile to edit it or close a profile, the cursor changes to the spinning circle, and it takes 2-3 minutes for the profile to close or open, and often the "Invelos Software DVD Profiler" banner at the top of the screen will say "(Not Responding).  When that happens, no matter how long I wait, the program does not respond and has to be ended from the Task Manager.  When you reopen DVD Profiler, it asks you to run the database repair utility, which I do.

I'm running Windows 8 and DVD Profiler 3.8.2 Build 1542.  My collection is about 6,000 profiles, so I don't know if that's part of the problem.  I'm not having issues with any other programs.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have any additional plugins installed? You could try a "Diagnostic Startup" (hold down Ctrl key before opening the software until the new window comes up and make sure all of the check boxes are selected. Use the software in the way that usually causes a hang up. If it does not, we can go from there.

However, a less subtle choice that may be faster (if you haven't tried already) is to uninstall and reinstalling the software (If you do, remember to back up your database and place it outside of the DVD Profiler folders before uninstalling) by going to "File -> Backup Database... -> Full Backup") Then you can restore your backup using "File -> Restore Database" after the reinstall is done.

Often hangups are a conflict completely out of your control. DVD Profiler asks you to do a database repaid only because it's standard when the software crashes in that manner... not to repair the software but to make sure your database remains in tact after the crash.

If a full uninstall/reinstall does not work, you can try taking it a step further by uninstalling, doing a system restore (here's how), then reinstalling DVD Profiler. This could affect other programs, though, so it is more of a last resort.
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.

He who MUST get the last word in on a pointless, endless argument doesn't win. It makes him the bigger jerk.
