So I just received this 3-disc BD set today:

Alfred Hitchcock: The Classic Collection
883904-295846

First thing I noticed is that there were no child profiles for either Notorious, Rebecca or Spellbound.

There are just discs / DiscIDs for the UPC above.

Now since I'd like to see the cast, crew and other info, I had DVDP identify the "inserted discs" in the set and added the following to the box set contents for the above UPC:

Notorious
883904-252498

Rebecca
883904-252542

Spellbound
883904-252528

Except, of course, they're not packaged separately. They're just discs in a 3x case.

So I'm trying to figure out what I should do in order to re-submit this. In addition to wiping the discs from the main profile, I assume I have to also do something with the UPC field for each disc (wipe it?).

When you erase the UPC does DVDP automatically populate that UPC field with DiscID info?

Thanks in advance.

Insert appropriate disc in drive, select DVD - change UPC - select "use disc-id from inserted disc". The "UPC" will now the the disc-id.

OK, so I have the UPC all modified to DiscID, and I changed the child profile cover art to match the slip cover for the master profile, but I'm confused about my last steps here.

Do I submit the cloned DiscIDs separately before submitting the new parent profile with the box set contents?

About the cover art images: Do I submit the images I've modified for the purpose of this box set? I'm confused because these same DiscIDs could be used again for other box set collections. It seems that there might be some possibility of a collision there, unless DVDP is not just focusing on the DiscID when assigning cover art.

In this situation i submit the cloned profiles (which, assuming they are new to the database, will be approved and available within 24 hours).  I don't wait but will immediately submit the parent with the box set info.  The parent will take several days to get approved so you will have time to amend/correct/withdraw in the event there is something wrong with the child profiles.

About the cover art images

If these are new profiles submit with cover art.  If later boxes use the same Disc IDs that isn't your problem.  The images for the profiles with the earliest release date are what we use and right now that sounds like you.  Later releases must either use what you provide or get their own for local use.  If you leave them empty someone else will fill them in, profilers abhor a data vacuum.

There are existing profile images associated with the UPC codes that I deleted and replaced with DiscIDs, and this is what is confusing me. I'd be perfectly fine with using those images, except for the fact that the box set image rules don't permit this, if I'm understanding things correctly. I think this submission must use the existing slip cover art for all of the child profiles.

Is that right?

I think you are correct.

As I understand it you have created new profiles (disc id based) from existing UPC-based profiles.  The new profiles should use the new box set images.  They shouldn't be submitted with the UPC-based images.

Yep. If it's a new profile for the disc IDs, the cover art should be taken from the box set.

Another 'yep', the disc ID profiles should use the images from the box set parent.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

DiscID profiles submitted and approved. It'll be a few days on the parent profile, I'm guessing.
