If you're Mac / Apple only: Lucky you!
For standard desktop users like me, you can use something as simple as a CueCat scanner, available for cheap on eBay. They operate as "keyboard wedge" devices and are very effective.
I went all in and bought a professional Symbol Technologies gun type scanner, which is the most common hand held type of scanner you see in retail operations. If you have a lot of scanning to do, they're really great, and read all sorts of barcodes. |
