I think that DVDs with multiple titles on the same side is a pain in the you-know-what because when you have a lot of unwatched titles it’s hopeless to keep track of which of the titles on these discs that you have watched. Lately I have started to always add the separate titles as manual entries when I add such a DVD. However, I have a lot of older DVDs that still needs to have this done.

With 6000+ profiles it was a big task just sorting out which titles that need to be added as manual entries. I ended up listing 123 titles. The tasks that lies before me now are
1) Create 123 manual entries for these titles
2) Add these manual entries as children to their respective parent

I don’t see any shortcut to accomplish step 2. However, it seems to me that there could theoretically maybe be a way to create 123 manual titles from a list of these titles. If not directly in Profiler itself, then possibly with the help of some addin. I’m not too hopeful, but I thought I would at least ask to see if anybody has any suggestions.

If nobody steps up with an automated way of doing it, you could add a similar profile from the online database and then change it to a manual entry. You would obviously need to change the relevant data, but it may save work when it comes to cast and crew etc...

To change to manual

DVD > Change EAN > click the yellow icon to the right of the new EAN field.

Do you want to have these manual entries already data entered from the get-go or just the empty profile in the correct locality?

I won't write a fully-flegded plugin for this but if you give me your highest existing manual profile ID and the locality of the profiles and a list of the titles, I create you your profiles and give you a backup file.

Bulk Edit has the ability to "Clone to Manual" and "Clone Children from DiscID", which of course both do not fit your needs, but maybe mediadogg is able and willing to combine those two features.

That worked perfectly! Thank you so much, DJ!

Just for the record, those were just for the DVDs where I had at least one unwatched.
If I should have added child profiles for watched multi-title DVDs also, it would have been at least twice as many titles. That might have been good for consistency, but I just couldn't justify the added work when it had no real benifit.

If you give me the list of titles I create you those, too.

The code is now already there, the only work work would be on your end: creating the title list and fill it with meaningfull data.

Thanks, but creating the list is a lot more work than the result is worth. But I really appreciate the offer.

I'll put on my list to add that feature to BulkEdit for future cases. Seems DJ has this one solved.

I will add an option to Clone to Manual - "and make child of original". Or something like that.

Edit: Oh, I didn't see that last post from GSyren. Are you interested in that tweak to BulkEdit? If so, I will take it off the "to do" list and put it on the "ASAP" list.
Thanks for your support.

Might I suggest an option for entering the number of profiles that shall be created? Would beat the need to click repeatedly on the same parent-profile.

I don't need it right now, but it sounds like a very good idea.
Thanks for offering to do it, though.

Ok, but it sounds like no immediate need. DJ if you want to continue with yours, its OK, I can still add to BE - people like options.

As I said, this will not become a plugin. I just hacked 10 lines of code into my own do-what-I-want plugin and created those profiles.

Ok, BE update just about ready for release. I'm adding Collection \ Flags \ Flag Watched while I'm at it.

Anything else ... anybody ... ???
