Hi all,

I'm thinking of purchasing DVD Profiler, but had a functionality question.

I want to be able to track who is the owner of the disc (myself or my daughter) and be able to pull list by owner. I couldn't see how to do that with the trial. Also would be nice to keep up with which discs I have backed up to my server. Can you create custom fields?

Thanks for any advice.

Tags will do the trick. See Tools > Edit Tags and create tags suitable for you purposes.

As Kulju said Tags are one possible solution.

Another one (for multiple owners) would be Custom Collection Categories which would give you an immediate overview over the titles owned by you or your daughter.

For the back-up files a Custom Media Type is good solution too.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

OK, I see how the Custom Collection works now. That works nicely. I'm thinging a tag for whether it has been ripped to server, but I set a couple and can't see how to report on them right away.

Will the Custom Collection and tags transfer to Online and the IOS app?
I think I'm on the right track, though. Thanks.

Make sure you have Filters window enabled (View > Windows > Filters, or Ctrl+F). Open filters > tags and select the tag(s) you wan't to use as a filter.

I don't know about iOS app, but to online, yes, with some limitations. The data is actually there, but you cannot see  custom collections or tags from website. Could you clarify what exactly you mean?

Regarding the IOS app, I wondered if you could view by Collection or see the tags?
My goal was to be able to see what I owned when out in a store to prevent duplicate purchases.

Custom collections do show separately in the iOS app.

Another option, if you don't use the "ordered" tab is to assign that to your daughter's collection.  I have all my anime assigned to that tab, and therefore it is both separated and visible on the website.

Well, now that I have a couple of hundred DVDs loaded, I created the collection for my daughter and moved some DVDs there. However, in the web presentation of my collection, all I can see is the All/Owned/Ordered/Wishlist tabs. Under All, it excludes the entries that I moved into the custome collection. Is this the designed behavior, or is there a way to configure that?

You can see your Custom Collection headings on the line that the other categories are.

The ability to see them depends on how you have them set up (Icons Only, Text Only, or Icons and Text). If you want to change them just right click on the  All    Owned    Ordered    Wish List section. This will open up a window and all you do is tick your preference.

But, no matter how you have it set, you still can see them using the arrows that are on the Collection line

If you can not see your daughter's list it's likely you have the Icons and Text box ticked. If so, you need to click on the right arrow to make it visible - see below:

All    Owned    Ordered    Wish List    <    >    Custom #1    Custom #2    etc.

Good luck! And welcome to the forums.

I think it only shows the defaults...  I have one custom collection, but I just checked and it's not showing up on mine either.  I'm not at home, so I can't double check.

I think he is talking about viewing them online....

Although all of your titles are transferred to your online collection the only titles which are visible online are those under Owned, Ordered, and Wishlist.  Titles in custom categories don't even appear in the All tab online.

What you could do is create a second database for your daughter's collection and then create a separate account for her collection and upload it that way.

Ken recently mentioned in another post that DVD Profiler Online Plus would be coming in the future but there's no ETA on when that might be or what new functionality it might have.

I don't think custom ones are not viewable online.

Can you contribute and/or vote on updates for those?

I am talking about viewing the collection online with the public link.
I assume Kathy, the contribute and/or vote options would be on my PC at home?

If I create a separate database, is it still covered under the original Registration Key? Or put another way, can my daughter have an account that uses the same Registration Key?
