You can enter 35 characters in the first name field, then save.

But only 25 are actually stored.

When re-opening the edit window, you can add 10 new characters which are promptly dropped upon saving.

This is a programming error (amazing what a single incorrect character typed can do.)

He gave the dataset for first names and last names a 25 character limit but accidentally gave the first name textbox a value of 35. (The last name textbox stops at 25 characters.)
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.

He who MUST get the last word in on a pointless, endless argument doesn't win. It makes him the bigger jerk.

Actually in this case it's a different oversight. The database was changed to allow 35 characters for first name, and the field allows 35, but the DB component wasn't refreshed, so it's only saving 25.  Corrected for the next release.
