| Posted: | | | | Most (quite possibly: all) Orion Pictures films carry a "Released thru Warner Bros. Pictures" mention at the very end of the end credits. So the opening credits show "Orion Pictures" as the theatrical release studio, followed by one or more production companies, and then at the very end of the credits, there's a mention that the film was "Released thru Warner Bros. Pictures". Do we enter both as theatrical release studios, and if yes, in what order? |

| Posted: | | | | This is like claiming turner is the producing studio of gwtw. Orion does not exist anymore, Warner owns the catalog, that does.not change that Orion produced the movie. Note for those wondering MGM produced gwtw in 1949, years before turner ever existed. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | Btw theatrical release studios are dealt with in the rules. But they are not a production company, they have nothing to do with the films production. In fact usually in such deals the film was made prior to the distribution deal. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | I don't think he is disputing that, but WB is on the credits and he is simply asking wether they should be listed or not. I think they should, but it appears in this case Orion should be listed first, then followed by any of the production companies if any, and then WB, of course IMO. | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |

| Posted: | | | | Film details/studios. To be precise the poll is wrong, theatrical release studios are listed before production studios/companies. As I always say the rules are clear, only users choose to try and make them less so. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

Studios List the Studios in the following priority.
Theatrical Release Studio(s) Production Company(s) Media Companies The company(ies) responsible for the publishing (creating, assembling and ordering of the DVD/HD/BD content) and/or physical distribution of the media.
Enter in the following order:
Publisher (Content) - Usually found as a logo on the bottom of the back cover or in the credit block, often containing the words "home video" or "home entertainment. Secondary publishers (eg. The Criterion Collection's Eclipse label) may also be listed.
Licensor (Home Video Rights) - Usually found (dated with the year of the DVD release) on the back of the box or in the credit block with words words regarding "under license from...".
Distributor - Usually found as a logo on the bottom of the back cover or in the credit block with words regarding distribution.
Some companies (using similar but different names) may serve more than one function. List such companies only once, using the name from the logo. List secondary publishers even if the name is similar. If you are unsure of the function performed, do not list the company.
Do not abbreviate Studio or Media Company names. e.g, use Universal Pictures not just Universal; The Criterion Collection rather than Criterion or Criterion Collection; Walt Disney Pictures not just Disney. Exception: If the studio name is too long to fit, use standard abbreviation rules.
Omit company suffixes such as LLC, Ltd., Inc.
Omit any locality-specific suffix. e.g. Enter Paramount Home Entertainment, not Paramount Home Entertainment (UK)
There is further information about correct listings of studios and media companies, and the opportunity to ask questions if unsure, in the Contributions forum. | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |

| Posted: | | | | Does anyone remember why we list theatrical release studios, which are effectively distributors, before the companies that actually make the movies? I think the rule was probably not worded as intended and we were supposed to list major studios that had a hand in the movie before production companies, but not list a company that was essentially just contract to make prints and ship them to theaters before indies. |

| Posted: | | | | Of course I remember why, ace. Btw, double media companies are another animal, there are only three lines in the studio section, one of which is the section title. The rule is clear and it is one of the simplest, only users can take something Di clear and claim it is unclear which is done all too frequently. Then other users without knowledge claim to know when they really dont know a thing. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | As I see it, WB in this case is only the theatrical distributor, which we don't credit. It is not the "theatrical release studio" the rules ask for, that is Orion Pictures, which we do credit. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

Lol, tim now you are trying to play with words. Orion never released a film themselves, that come to mind, they are or were a production studio, Warner was one of several companies through whom their films were theatrically released or distributed. The deals could vary, perhaps Warner might do it all, perhaps the would handle us release and someone else worldwide release or vice versa. Watching these things twist and spin is hysterically funny and sad st the same time. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here
