Today I got Melissa & Joey: Season One: Part Two, UPC 826663126938 [US]

I stumbled upon the fact the the first disc supposedly contained the episode "Joe Knows" which is actually the last episode of Season One: Part One.

I discovered that they screwed up both on the cover episode list AND on the disc menu itself

Supposedly there is:

The Other Longo
Waiting for Mr. Right
Joe Knows
All Politics is Local

But the actual playing episodes are:

Enemies with Benefits
The Other Longo
Waiting for Mr. Right
All Politics is Local

The cast/crew appears to be correctly assigned, just the episode labels are plain wrong.

Is this one of these "exactly as on the cover" moments where we deliberatly put wrong data into the DB because some unpaid intern accidentally slipped one row on his type sheet?

If the actual episodes on the DVD are not the ones mentioned on the menu, then they need correcting with a little bit of a description as to why. I think common sense should prevail on this one, otherwise other regions of this title (where the order is correct) will not match-up in the online database.

(I don't suppose the episode titles are given during/after the opening credits?)

The TV rules do not specify where the episode data comes from.

All they say is "Complete Series/Season & Anthologies of Episodes - A simple list of Episodes may also be added to the standard overview."

You only need to document where you get the correct data from and why you chose those sources.

Therefore, you do not have to include bad data but I would document the specifics in my notes.

A picture of the back of the case would help a lot as the back scans I have seen...I am at work so can't download the actual cover...don't have a list of episodes incorporated into the overview.  That being the case, no, you don't have to copy it exactly...in my opinion of course.

Do you have season 1 part 1? I ask because I have 2 titles like that. Rules of Engagement Seasons 5 & 6 were both MOD titles from Sony. When I received season 5, they accidentally(?) put 2 episodes of season 6 on it, in random order, too, not just tagged onto the last disc after the end of the season 5 episodes. So I was dreading season 6, fearing that they were gonna duplicate those 2 episodes on the season 6 set. But, thankfully, they didn't. Anyway, if you can, get s1 part 1 to see if the Joe Knows ep is on there.
My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT.
FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that.
Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it!

Need I remind everyone that the rules do indeed spell out where we get data from. Start at page one if you font believe. If both the episode list and the disc menu are the same, so be it. You do not have the ability to decide what is or is nit correct or where the days comes from, the rules are cleat. Kathy please stop undermining them. Read them from the top and stop trying to excuse things out of context. Now if you wish to ask ken to rule on it himself  then what he chooses to do is cool, not your job.

Please, don't try and turn this into an argument too. And the rules aren't cleat on this.

Are you seriously suggesting "Take the episode title from the episode itself, or from elsewhere on the DVD or DVD packaging, exactly as shown." is fine if the episode in question isn't even in the collection?!

I know its a pain sometimes. But we are told what the authoritative source is and that the rules apply to all profiles. We have not the authority to determine what we think is right or wrong, that belongs locally only. I have seen tv discs set up in what I thought was wrong, for example episode data only to discover that they were not listed by airfare, but by production order. Tv shows are not shot sequentially sometimes . It could be any number of things that we do not have info on. So all we can do is follow the data.

f indeed there is an error as described then look to the distributor, perhaps even contact them. They may issue a corrrection disc, would not be the first time...or the last

I'm unfamiliar with this show. Is it like Star Trek, where the episode titles are shown on screen as part of the episode, or like the Simpsons, where they are not indicated and you must get the titles from external sources?

It's a standard comedy show where there are no actual titles onscreen.

If you're asking how I'm sure they're wrong. Well, that's because the episode Joe Knows was all about a webcast where "Joe knows". And the episode The Other Longo was about Joe's brother who appeared in the episode, ...

As usual Skip has chosen to publicly call me out. Since I am fed up with him and his continual refusal to leave me alone, I will be going off topic before dealing with his inaccurate statements.

Skip,

First, if you expect people to understand what you are saying then learn to use the spell checker. I do not understand why you refuse to correct your spelling errors. I find this quite ironic since you continually demand perfection from others.

Actually I think I do understand. Since I feel that your refusal to correct your spelling errors shows a lack of courtesy, I decided to look up the definition of courtesy to be sure I was using the appropriate words.

So, I googled "courtesy" and got the following: "cour·te·sy/'k?rt?se/ Noun:
- The showing of politeness in one's attitude and behavior toward others.
- A polite speech or action, esp. one required by convention."

I was exactly correct in wanting to tell you that you and your posts are not courteous.

Your refusal to easily correct your spelling mistakes, despite hundreds of requests, is a perfect example of your disrespectful attitude and behavior toward others.

Your "skippos" are not funny - they show a lack of respect for the reader.

If you want to be taken seriously, a first step would be to make your words clear, legible and with words spelled correctly.

It only takes a few seconds to make your posts error free - your refusal to take the time to do so speaks volumes and not in a positive way.

Secondly, I have read the rules and have done so countless times. In fact I went back and read them again after reading your post. And, I did indeed start from page one.

Maybe you should take your own advice and re-read the rules. Since you haven't contributed in over 2 years it is possible that you aren't as proficient as you claim to be.

I "font" believe you, the rules are "cleat" and I stand by my statement:

Now, I am not perfect and I might very well be wrong, if so please direct me to the appropriate section(s) in the rules.

As it is, I do not see anything in the rules that states, as Skip asserts, "both the episode list and the disc menu are the same, so be it".

I also do not see anything that tells us exactly where we should take TV episode data and this data is often taken from other sources.

There is no argument to be had,  the rules are very clear. We have  two choices, printed episode list or the list on the disc. There is one additional variable, the actual episode data does not agree. So that is a maybe, but some how we still have to account for the data difference, so it is obvious tovall what has transpired. That is where the discussion must be aimed, how do we account for the data as presented AND account for the actual episode name. I have some ideas here let me flesh them out s bit.

If you would stop pretending that you makes comments that undermine the rules at best, I would not have to call you out as you put it. But you won't. I pointed out your error and explained it. I then made two longer term solutions. I am working on a short term one.

Sorry if it upsets you but you were simply wrong...plain and simple. Again sorry if I bruised you but...

Even in your follow up Kath. You ignore the rules as a whole and deal only with one small piece to try and justify your comment. Read the rules, pay particular attention to page one.
