I'm seriously considering upgrading to Windows 8 ATM because of the $40 offer.

Has anyone tested it yet with DVDP?

I ran their Upgrade Assistant app and it said DvdP was compatible. I haven't decided if I want to upgrade yet though. It also said it doesn't like my touchscreen (I have a 24" Acer touchscreen monitor).

So go for it and let me know how it went

Hmm I guess that means if we don't hear from you then it didn't go well....

Point 2:

They don't seem to have a Windows Media Player for Win 8 unless you get the Windows Media Center pack. Currently they are offering this for free if you run Win8 Pro, but it seems odd about just Windows media Player. mediadogg will loooovvve this as LaodDVD relies on WMP.

Have a look at this thread, particularly the posts from mediadiogg: http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=627506

Seems that it works OK.

Interesting, mediadogg was running Win7 Ultimate - which would include Media Center and thus WMP. I guess it needs a bit more checking around to see exactly what they have done with WMP in other versions.

OK, the non-existant start menu and hwo to access the start panel needs some getting used to (especially if your primary monitor is the right one - try to hit the corner when the mouse has a whole screen to wander into).

But generally speaking everything looks fine and DVD Profiler runs normally. Here are some screenshots of how it looks:

How to get the start menu back.

Thanks but I never actually needed the Start menu. I'm still pretty much a keyboard person and know the most important .exes by heart.

When I want to start MS Word, I simply press Windows+R and type "winword".

If I actually need to find a program in the new start screen I can press Windows+Q.

Desktop is (as always) Windows+D and so on and so forth.

I also have a MacMini and I wouldn't want to use it without shortcuts either.    They just make life easier - and isn't that what Apple's supposed to be about?

But if you're a mouse hustler you're welcome to drag it to the far reaches of the shire screen.
