When adding a DVD to the collection, the collection number 'used to' automatically increment to the next number.... Well now it does not add any number, it adds it to the collection, but with a blank field where the number should be.

What did I break?

To the best of my knowledge (I coulda had antother 'senior moment') I have not changed anything.

Thanks, Henri

I would try a database repair first: Tools > Options > Utilities > Repair Profile Database.

If that didn't work I would reset my collection numbers: Collection > Reassign Collection Numbers > Reassign All Collection Numbers.

Let us know if these don't help.

Good luck!

Kathy,
Neither of those worked. The 'reset collection numbers' really changed the 'numbers' it added about 9 items, which really put the 'paper' catalog out of order. I reverted back to the saved database. I do have several 'collections' in there, so it must have counted them as individual items. Very confusing...

Perhaps a remove and reload of the app is in order....

Are you adding to a custom collection? If so, make sure that you have checked "Collection Numbers" as a category option for the collection. (Tools / Edit Collection Categories...)

No, I'm simply trying to add a new movie to my existing collection (I only have one).It will add the movie, but the # field is left blank, and I have to add it manually. It used to automatically pick the next number. Under 'Tools' I have no 'Edit Collection Categories'......

I'm sorry my suggestions didn't work.

Hopefully someone else can figure out why you're having this new problem. There are a lot of savvy people here who know how to figure out most glitches.

I would give the community a few days - you might want to bump the thread to keep it on the opening page.

If no one comes up with a fix, I'd suggest you contact invelos' via a support ticket: http://www.invelos.com/Support.aspx

By default, you have at least 3 collections: Owned, Wishlist and Ordered. You will only get collection numbers assigned when you add to "Owned" (you said you don't have Custom).

Some things to check:
(1) If you were adding a DVD and didn't notice that it was going into "Wish List" for example, then you could have been viewing the item in the "All" view, but it would not have had a collection number. Make sure you add the DVD to Owned, or subsequently move it there.
(2) I am truly skeptical that you don't have the menu Tools\Edit Collection Categories ... Please look again, or you can try "Alt-T." Do you see it then? If not, I am at a loss to know the problem. Maybe you should re-install DVD Profiler.

Mediadogg,

To the best of my knowledge all are owned. How do I check for that, I did not see it on the various screens?

To satisfy your "truly sceptical".....

I've considered a reload. Always hate doing that.....

It's easy to see if what DVDs are listed in the various categories.

Near the top of profiler you should see Icon and/or Text that shows the
collection catagories.

Text should look like this:  All    Owned    Ordered    Wish List

Icons (sorry I don't know how to show them) are symbols that look like:

All = a stack of DVDs  Owned = a house  Ordered = a brown package  Wish List = a heart

All of your DVDs should be in the Owned section - if not, as mediadogg explained, that might be your problem.

As far as the Tools/Edit Collection Categories, I don't think you are looking in the right spot.

Go to the top of profiler. You will see:  File  Collection  DVD  Online  Tools  Help.

Click on Tools. This will open up a window and about 3/4 down you will see Edit Collection Categories.

Mediadogg & Kathy,

I must have a different 'App' than y'all do.... None of my menu's look like or have what you describe.... And 'yes' I'm running the default screen.... I'm running 3.8.1, which I think is the latest....

Kathy: None of the Icons along the top or elsewhere 'expand' or show the different catagories, see the screen capture below.... So I guess I cannot 'break' down the 'All' category.....

Mediadogg: I did the refresh as you suggested, with no change.... see the screen capture below.... I'm at a loss at this point....

It looks to me as if something within the App has altered the menu's somehow. And I see no options to restore it without a reload.... So, I'll bet a reload is in my future - LOL....

We'll be away for a couple of weeks, so I'll pick this up upon return.... I'll have internet coverage, so I'll be able to capture any replies you have.

Thanks for your help...
Henri

I did not suggest a refresh, whatever that is. See .here. for the advice I got when I had a similar problem.

If you think you have a different app, and you are not sure you have the latest, I would recommend that you download and reinstall DVD Profiler to make sure. It takes less than 5 minutes. Second notice.  . (Somebody suggested it once before)
