Often, when I am editing actors I briefly choose an and filter before switching to or. When dealing with actors who have the same name, plenty of movies will show up in an and filter, even when they don't actually appear together in anything.

Unable to reproduce, seems to work correctly here.  You are checking the actors, not just filtering on actor name, right?

Isn't checking them how you filter?

Also, this only seems to happen with actors who have the same name, but different birth years. I can provide screen shots if that helps.

I've tried to replicate with actors having the same name but different birth years, and it seems to work correctly here.  Reviewing the code doesn't reveal anything that should cause this - only the actor ID is used, so the name similarity shouldn't matter.

Now that I check, I am having strange behavior as well.  As I mentioned, in a different thread, I have two Bruce Campbells in my local...Bruce Campbell (1958) and Bruce Campbell.  When I select the 'and' filter, I get 3 profiles that Bruce Campbell (1958) is in, even though the other one isn't in them.  When I select the 'or' filter, I get the 21 profiles that Bruce Campbell (1958) is in, and the 1 proile that the other one is in.

If I understand how the filters work, I shouldn't get any profiles under the 'and' option.

Working as expected for me.

I have 15 profiles with Bruce Campbell (1958) and 1 profile with Bruce Campbell.
Checking both in actor-filter and selecting 'and' will result in 0 profiles.
Selecting 'or' will result in 16 profiles.

I have 22 profiles with Mel Gibson and 13 with Danny Glover.
Checking both in actor-filter and selecting 'and' will result in 5 profiles.
Selecting 'or' will result in 30 profiles.

That is odd.  Wonder what I have that is different.

The only thing I can think of is, that I don't really have a Bruce Campbell without BY - the second one has 9001 assigned in my collection. But I just tried removing the fake BY, restarted DVD Profiler and tried again - and got a correct result again. So this is not causing the problem...

I just tried in a test DB. One profile with BC+BY, one without and even one with an actor named Ash and a credited as BC.

Couldn't get them to filter wrongly.

Any more pointers and what to do to reproduce?
