Hi All,

Sorry if this has already been reported, but I couldn't find it...

I've just updated to 3.8.1 and refreshed the profiles. First time all seemed ok; the same profiles that needed refreshing under the previous release still needed refreshing, so I updated them all. The next day the refresh downloaded 20 odd MB of data and ended with an error saying I needed to re-build the database, which I did.

Then the cycle repeats - loads of data downloaded and an error message asking me to re-build and so on.

I don't think there's an actual problem as everything seems ok to me, but I'll have to wait another 24 hours to see what happens when I refresh again.

Best Regards.

This is getting even stranger....

Now when I try to add a dvd I get a message about not being to open Onelinelist.dod  - sending the info to Invelos fails.

But I can add the dvd after oking or cancelling the message.

Everything seems to be working ok  - I just keep getting these odd messages. It's only happened since upgrading to this release level. I've tried re-building the database again, but it doesn't help. I guess that Onlinelist.dod is causing a spurious error to be set?

http://www.invelos.com/appdata/dvdpro/lists/OnlineList.dod

Download the file by right-clicking on the download link above and selecting "Save Target As". Then, browse to your "My Documents" folder, then into "DVD Profiler" from there. Save the downloaded file.

On next program startup everything should be OK.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Thanks for this...

I'm using XP, so the locations may be a bit different - there wasn't a "save as" when I right clicked, so I saved the file to a temporary location.

My DVDProfiler stuff seems to be in ....Local Settings/DVD Profiler; at least there's a OnelistSel.dod there. So I copied the downloaded file into there and re-started Profiler.

Now when I try to add a dvd I get"This file format is newer than this version of DVD Profiler. You will need to obtain a newer copy of DVD Profiler to Proceed".

Once again everything seems to be ok once I dismiss the message.

I may have sorted this out - more by luck than judgement. Please forgive the mistakes I made in the naming; of course it should be "OnlineList..."

Now everything seems to be ok, although the next update will be the crucial test.

I'll update this thread later with the results.

what I have noticed over the past few weeks is how many times I have to rebuilt the database .. where I never hardly ever rebuilt before with other older editions in the past ...
In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

Really? I have experienced the opposite. Was repairing often before... but not since the new version.

I've had Profiler since at least September 2002 and can count the times I've rebuilt the database on the fingers of one hand... Two hands if you include teething troubles ( like this ) with new releases.

All seems to be well now.

I renamed OnlineListSel.dod to OnlineList.dod and restarted Profiler. This time the profile list was downloaded, but the download was split into a number of parts ( I can’t remember exactly how many, but half a dozen or so ). No profiles were updated.

Refreshing the profile list just ran a scan and reported no updates available ( as expected ) and no error messages. I was also able to add new dvds without any error messages.

This morning I ran the refresh and a few dvds needed updating ( once again as expected ) and no error messages.

What I think happened, is that my renaming OnlineListSel.dod screwed things up completely and caused the profile list to be completely re-downloaded rather than trying to update a list that had some problem with it. I guess ( but I’m not going to try it! ) that deleting OnlineListSel.dod and / or OnlineList.dod would have had the same effect.

Thanks for your help.

Best Regards.
