How do you Rate a movie |

| | Posted: | | | | I asked in this post about using the 'disc' rating. But i am wondering how you rate a movie. Out of 1800 profiles I have only maybe 10 movies that I have rated as 5 and maybe 100+ rated as 4 or 4+. Lots of 3+ and 3. Maybe I just rate hard. What do you consider a 4, 4+ and 5 star movie? Is it a 'feeling' you get when you watch. Is it that WOW factor you get from a film done in a different way? What is it for you? Thanks DSig |

The genre of the movie. Is any of my favourite actors\actresses with.
The story of the movie. What they try to say with the movie.
How the actors\actress is in the movie. A good perfomance helps rate the movie up, and the vise versa.
And then you got the 'wow' feeling. Did the movie do it for me?
And how they have made the movie, the people etc behind the movie aswell.. Editing etc. |

2.5-3 - OK/average.
3.5-4 - Recommended.
4.5-5 - Highly recommended.
A lot has to do with expectations also though. I am harsh with some genres than others and very forgiving in some genres that generally get a lot of crap. | | | | Last edited: by samuelrichardscott |

So it depends really. Some genres i am very harsh on, and some genres i'm not that harsh on. Depends alot on the genre really.
When it comes to comedy's f.example, i'm alot more harsh than on horror f.ex.
But i would say i'm not "an easy a/b" If i gona give a movie perfect grade. It have to be really special. "The WOW factor"
I would say i have a good mix of both good movies and bad movies. Unfortunatly. But i like to think i got a bit more 'good' movies than 'bad' movies. |

But go down a couple of notches and it starts to get crowded, 7 and 8 being in the clear majority. One would perhaps assume that 5 and 6 would be more common but I think my experience already selects better than avarage movies to watch. But that doesn't say anything about the actual quality of the movie, just about my enjoyment of them.
I watched The Godfather once, was bored out of my mind and never even bothered to watch the sequels. I cannot even remember how often I watched Masters of the Universe.
But that doesn't mean I'd ever think that MotU is actually a better movie that TG. | | | Karsten
