Just wondering how others sort in DVP movie sequels/prequels?

For example:
The Brady Bunch Movie and A Very Brady Sequel.

I use Brady Bunch Movie and for the sequel I put in Brady Bunch Movie 2. They also sit on my shelf next to each other.

For series of movies such as the Fast & The Furious, Star Trek or Star Wars movies I put them in chronological order.

James Bond movies I put in alphabetical order.

So just wondering how others sort their sequels/prequels in general.

I put them in order of their release and if they have completely different titles then I use the sort title of the first movie and add an ascending number.

For some reason I am not very consistent when it comes to this. Some series of movies I will do as DJ stated above... other series of movies I just don't bother and leave them sort under their real title. Don't ask me why... I have no idea.

I use the title from the first movie and put a # on the end and paste it in the sort title. This makes them appear together in chronological order. I also use tags for "Sequel", "Remake and Original" and "2 Versions". I also have tags for "James Bond", "Jerry Lewis", "Sherlock Homes", etc. just to mention a few. Plus, I use things like James Bond 01 thru James Bond 23 as another method to keep them together in the DB. Using tags, sort title and the built in find filters you can accomplish almost anything you could possibly want for sorting.

I hope this helps.

Most times I do this as well. But sometimes I'll use other sorttitles. For example: 'Millenium Trilogy' for 'The girl with the dragon tattoo' etc. or 'Jack Ryan' for 'The hunt for Red October' etc.

With Jack Ryan on the other hand I'm like Pete. I have four movies (Red Cotober, Patriot Games, Present Danger, Sum of all Fears) with three different actors and I don't bother to put them in any general order.

Because the release order is this:

October (Baldwin)
Games (Ford)
Danger (Ford)
Fears (Affleck)

But the chronological order - at least of the books - is

Games (Ford)
October (Baldwin)
Danger (Ford)
Fears (Affleck)

I have sort them this way. I would sort James Bond the same way (by release, not by chronology), but I'm not interested in those...

This is how I do it as well...no exceptions.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

I'm inconsistent with them as well. I'd say at least half of them, I keep them together under the same letter but in chronological order.  Fast and Furious and 2 Fast 2 Furious are together under 'f.'

Others I will keep under their original titles, separated from the original. In Profiler, they are kept that way as well. For example, I have all the Batman movies in order under Batman, except for Dark Knight which is under the 'd's. It kind of bugs me that they're not together, but I know when looking for the Dark Knight, I'm looking in the 'd's so I left it there. Die Hards are like this as well with the last one.

The only exception to that is James Bond movies. I keep them on the shelf under their title but in Profiler, I use the sort title to keep them together under James Bond rather than their individual titles.

I do something similar, but I don't always use the title of the first movie as the basis of my sort title.  For example, the sort titles of all my James Bond films are Bond 01, Bond 02, Bond 03, etc.
