| | Posted: | | | | I have a question about DVD credits in languages other than English, where the language contains symbols/letters that DVD Profiler doesn’t recognise.
I’m presently auditing a film that has most of its credits in Greek. I can translate most of the crew roles, but the names of the people I can’t. However, the sleeve contains information on many of the roles in English and the names of some of the actors and crew written using only 'DVD Profiler friendly' letters. This is not an uncommon occurrence and has been frustrating me for some time.
In these cases, do we feel it’s okay to use information from elsewhere (such as the sleeve, booklet in the case, suitable online source, etc) as part of an online contribution? (In other words, treat it as if it doesn't have standard credits.)
The Rules seem to suggest to me that we can’t, although we can if there aren’t standard credits, or if the situation relates to a TV series.

So I'm an anarchist, deal with it. Just be thankful I don't include most of my records and CDs etc in it too; don't think I haven't been tempted... |

I only use these in instances where the credits are not subtitled. In every case I explain in my notes that the credits are in a non-Latin alphabet (Arabic, Cyrillic, Korean, etc.) and that I had used the package/booklet to translate. I don't believe it is acceptable to use an online source, unless that source is an official website (such as from the film distributor). | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

| | Posted: | | | | I have alot of Martial Arts films that don't have english cast and crew credits. I use any english credits from the film credits. Or the DVD cover if there are English. I've used commentary track sometimes, or English subtitles for charactor names. Just document where you got your info from. You can even use cast and crew info from an existing profile.
