My DVD Profiler has The Devil & Daniel Webster, however I do not own this movie.  The UPC for this title on my Profiler is actually the one for Knife in the Water.  Even if I tried to add Knife as new DVD the UPC is wrong and if I look up by title it is still not there, why?

Are you using all the numbers when trying to add the UPC as a new title? You don't need to drop the first/last numbers with version 3.

If you can't find it by title it's likely nobody has submitted it, the database is being rebuilt from scratch.

Edit

Odd looking at the profile in 2.4 it seems Criterion have used the same UPC twice. Even odder for some reason I have my copy of the Devil and Daniel Webster listed with an incorrect UPC 037429-181423. I think all that can be done is to add Knife in the Water with the disc id.

I've got this problem, too. But what is far more annoying is how difficult I'm finding it to work around this problem. KNIFE IN THE WATER is not found in Invelos' database. So I can't add it to my collection. I can't create a new DVD from scratch. Is this possible? Or must one always Edit an existing DVD? I'm left with the final alternative: edit the false DEVIL & DANIEL WEBSTER profile to become KNIFE IN THE WATER.

Criterion has made errors with UPCs before. I have Good Morning which was printed with the UPC of Double Suicide.

The Criterion website lists Knife in the Water with a UPC of 0-37429-14932-4 which is the UPC as shown on the cover.

Their website lists 0-37429-18142-3 as the UPC for The Devil and Daniel Webster, although the cover lists 0-37429-14932-4 just as Knife in the Water. 0-37429-18142-3 is available in the db for The Devil and Daniel Webster.

I'll send in a contribution for Knife in the Water as 0-37429-14932-4 and notify the prior contributor of The Devil and Daniel Webster about the mix up.

Thanks for clarifying that m.cellophane.

Guess Criterion don't extend the same care and attention they pay to creating the transfers/features, to the packaging and other mundane stuff.

when you get to the screen to add a dvd just untick the box which says to download profile. Then you create your own profile from scratch

A little addition. I got the dvd today, and the UPC on the backcover has been changed to 037429-181423. Now should the back cover be resubmitted? Or should we adhere to the 'original artwork' rule?

neither, it has a different upc so create a new profile for it under that new upc. You can use the current profile as the base, just double check all the information and make any necessary changes (ie, change the upc, disc id, cover scans at a minimum)

I'm sorry for any confusion. I was talking about "The Devil and Daniel Webster". That one has been re-released with the correct EAN on the back cover. The profile is already in the database, with the new/correct upc. Has been there since it was released back in 2003.
