Haven't run DVD profiler in a few months. Launch it tonight and it crashes immediately (very shortly after the logo appears) trying to read what looks like a NULL pointer.

Is this is a known issue? Is there a workaround?

Try running database repair before opening and see if that helps.

Also you can try:
"Press and hold ALT while starting DVD Profiler. DVD Profiler will not load any plugins."
just in case a plugin is to blame.

Database repair didn't help.  I don't think I have any plugins installed so its not surprising that the ALT key at startup didn't help.  Anything else I can try?

Running Win7 64-bit w/8GB of RAM just in case that helps.

Check what happens when you disable your security software (Go Offline first!).
If this solves your problem set DVDProfiler.exe as trusted in your security software.

If it doesn't, reinstall DVDProfiler to fix possibly corrupted entries in the registry.
To save your database copy the DVDProfiler folder from "Documents" (Usually to be found in: C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents) to another location (preferably "Desktop")
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Reinstallation didn't help.  Even renamed the DVD Profiler data directory.  Crashes the same way.

Should I try an uninstall, followed by an install?

I did do a complete backup the last time I ran it a couple months ago so I think I'm ok from a data recovery standpoint.

I'm having the same problem now, did an uninstall/reinstall (into  different hard drive), didn't help. Disabling the windows firewall didn't help. Was your situation resolved?

Is anyone of you having the eMusic Download Manager (EDM) in version 4.x or 5.x?

This software is known to corrupt some of the files needed by DVDProfiler (Source).

No. Still happening.  Don't know what eMusic Download Manager (EDM) is and I've never installed it.  Checked and it isn't present on the list of apps to uninstall.

Big Thanks for bringing this out! Been suffering the same issue of DVDProfiler crashing upon startup. I bought a Creative webcam for  X-mas and got an e-music freebie which lead into installing eMusic download manager. Already terminated the depleted eMusic account but got EDM still installed in OS. Uninstalling it solved the problem, now DVDProfiler is starting up as it should. Did not check the EDM version before uninstalling it so too late to say which version it was.

Just curious, anyone on this thread found a solution to the crash at startup?
