| Posted: | | | | I would say it is. Here is the Wikipedia entry :
"Dragon Dynasty is a joint venture started by The Weinstein Company and Genius Products. The company was created on May 23, 2006 for the sole purpose of distributing East Asian films on DVD in the US, whose licenses are held by, or will be acquired by The Weinstein Company. Dragon Dynasty showcases classic and contemporary Asian Cinema, particularly those films which fall under the action and martial arts genre."
From the Media Company contribution rules : "Media Companies The company(ies) responsible for the publishing (creating, assembling and ordering of the DVD/HD/BD content) and/or physical distribution of the media."
Therefore, as Dragon Dynasty is IMHO clearly a "distributor" (its sole purpose according to the wikipedia entry above), it falls into the MC category and should be listed in the Profile for Dragon Dynasty titles. Couple that with the fact that Dragon Dynasty absolutely splash their DVDs with their name (front cover, spine, printed on the DVD, and it's the first logo which comes up when you put in any of their DVDs), I think it needs to be added as an MC.
Most of my recent contributions to add this distribution company as an MC have been declined (Hard-Boiled, Robin-B-Hood, Invisible Target), but others have been accepted (Protector, 8-Diagram Pole Fighter). In fact, I now have 32 titles coming up with the MC as Dragon Dynasty, and these 3 without (which bugs me to death).
I have no problem going with the majority, but I just want it to be consistent. Either Dragon Dynasty gets listed as an MC or it does not, as long as it is the same for all their titles. Opinions? |

| Posted: | | | | By your quote I'd say it's clearly a distributor -> Media Company. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | Locally I have it as a media company. I've downloaded a number of profiles that erroneously list it as the production company and always have to change it. For that matter, Celestial Pictures, which is the rights owner for the Shaw Brothers films, is also a media company. They had nothing to do with actually producing any of the films. | | | Last edited: by mdnitoil |
