I have several profiles in my collection that when I highlight them instead of showing details of that film it shows the film next to it. If I delete that profile it deletes the film next to it and I still have the unviewable profile in the list.

Perform a database repair via menu "Tools -> Options -> Utilities -> Database Repair ..."
Choose the complete (Default) repair, that should fix your problem.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?
